This was brilliant fun for my partner and I. With 3 other travellers, plus our guide Kanishk, we had an exciting half day exploring the canyon, learning about the area, and learning how to repel.
Kanishk was an excellent guide. He kept the energy levels up, made us feel safe and secure while on the ropes, and made the day feel like an adventure.
Some notes for those wondering what to pack/bring:
The hike up:
- You’ll meet in the car park and be assigned you wetsuits, harness and helmet. These will go in a big dry bag that you’ll carry up the mountain.
- We hiked up in shorts and shirts, with bathing suits already on underneath.
- You’ll be given wetsuit socks to wear in your shoes for the hike up.
- YOUR SHOES WILL BE SOAKED. Whatever shoes you are hiking in are what you’ll use for the whole day. So make sure you’re happy that they can get completely wet and have some grip.
At the top:
- You’ll change into your wetsuit, and the clothes you hiked up on will go into the dry-bags to be taken back down as you go.
Food/water:
- Bring water in a bottle.
- Food is probably best kept to granola bars or similar. Anything you put into the dry bag will get squashed, so fruit might not last long.
Once you’re finished in the water:
- You’ll hike back down in your wetsuits, but you may take off the jacket.
- You’ll get changed back at the meeting point in the car park.
