Awesome steep ice clinic today with Kris. Great knowledge and teaching/instruction from him. Learned so much and had lots of fun. Definitely would recommend him and his company for any courses. Would love to book in with them again for further learning in the future.

With the great idea from my cousin, we booked a day of ice climbing with Rockies Ice & Alpine Specialists. It was the best day of our entire vacation! Kris was very responsive and helpful over email beforehand. He answered every questions we had (and we had a lot!). All three of us were very beginner so we did not know what to expect. Larry was our guide (we LOVED Larry!) We walked about an hour up to the ice, which was beautiful and warmed us up! Larry taught us a few techniques on the way up and helped us with all the equipment. We started on an easier climb, and gradually moved to a bit more of a challenging one. Larry was clearly concerned with our safely first (which we all appreciated). He was such a joy to be around and an incredible ice climber. The day could not have been better, we had the perfect balance of excitement and fun. Bring hand warmers and don't forget lunch, we were so happy for our peanut butter sandwiches. Thanks to Larry for an amazing day!

We spent the most wonderful afternoon with Kris learning how to rock climb. As I am not one who likes to take risks to say I was nervous before our climb was an understatement. Kris quickly and easily put my mind at ease with his gentle manner and thorough understanding and expertise. It was a great afternoon spent watching my kids take a risk and relish their accomplishments and I was pretty happy with my efforts too! A day of working as a team and learning to trust each other was also a wonderful by product of the afternoon. Thanks Kris!

Kris took my friend and I to climb at Grassy Lakes which had some really great sport climbs. He gave good tips and instruction as it had been a while since we had climbed. His gear was well cared for as well. Kris is an easy going guide but clearly knowledgeable in his craft. Awesome day on the rock walls to be sure! Thanks Kris.

Kris gave us an outstanding day climbing moderate quartzite pitches at Lake Louise. He found great sites with diverse problems for a group with mixed age and experience levels. He was very good with all levels of teaching and guiding.
Kris does everything and can converse well about all types of mountain travel from running to snow and ice. He knows his history of the mountains as well. Also appreciate his flexibility to avoid a rain day!
Definite A+++ guide with years of experience. Will look him up again soon.

I believe I am Kris’s first client for a guided trail run and can highly recommend this experience. Kris is very knowledgeable and friendly. He adjusted his pace to mine and checked in regularly whether the speed was ok. We had time for stops & pictures and I learned more about Canadian flora & fauna. Our chosen route was cut short by a Grizzly (!) encounter which Kris handled calmly and professionally - the Grizzly too :)

Kris took my eight-year-old son climbing for his first time. Kris was a patient teacher and my son had a really great time.

Our trip to the Glacier was fantasic. Jess drove us down to the glacier on the Ice Explorer and had wonderful stories and fun facts. It was exciting to see the ice so close. We wondered around the ice and visited with people from all over the world. Jess then drove us back and kept us laughing the whole way. What a great trip. Great trip for all ages. My mom is 87 and she loved the trip.

Kris setup an excellent guide called Ben Paradis for our group to go up Mt Athabasca. We were looking for coaching assistance in leading ourselves up the mountain. Our needs were well understood as Ben gave tips on moving up the glacier and reading the conditions while being able to summit the mountain. This gave us lots of confidence on the snow and ice for our own adventures later.

I emailed Kris quite late on Sunday when I realised I couldn't find anyone to climb with. I only had 1 day in the area so I really didnt want to miss out. He replied really quickly and responded to my return emails very fast. He organised a guide for me so I could have the day out climbing in Canmore. Ben my guide was excellent. Very encouraging and made it possible for me to spend the whole day going up and down various amazing limestone walls. Couldn't recommend them enough, just such a shame I only had the one day.
