Awesome ride!
Sep. 2021
Well kept horses, excellent and informative guide about the history of the area, the Banff Trail Rider's organization, the flora/fauna. I rode Amigo and my daughter rode Morley - good well mannered horses with no bad habits. Scenery as beautiful. Check in and support from the whole team was excellent. Will definitely go again!

Once in a lifetime experience
Sep. 2021 • Family
Family experience, horses were well matched to our riding abilities. Our guides made us feel safe as we negotiated river crossings and rocky trails. Sundance lodge is a western dream, lots of rustic touches but comfy beds. No cell phone or wifi reception and lodge has solar panels for its electric needs. Meals were good and generous servings.

2 day Sundance overnight trip
OMG what an amazing weekend horseback riding with #banfftrailriders #horsebackbanff Huge thanks out to our guides Amy and Natalie and their trusty mule Tanya! We covered just over 38km of trails over two days getting to just over 1600m of elevation. The night was spent at Sundance Lodge where the food and hospitality was endless. I thoroughly recommend this trip.

Perfect family activity!
Aug. 2021 • Family
Took the 2hr Sundance Loop Trail yesterday with our two kids aged 9 amd 12. Nicole was our guide and she was amazing! My youngest stayed at the front and they paired us all with very friendly horses. It was our first time riding and it was great. The views of the Bow River and mountain backdrops were gorgeous. As we ventured up the mountain and through the forest, it started to get chilly and even had a bit of rain. Nicole was super kind and offered my son her jacket. I was sooo impressed - she was amazing. The ride is slow, only walking, but perfect for us since it was our first time and with kids. If youre looking for something faster or more exciting then this isnt for you. But if youre like us and appreciate the views, experience something new, and love horses - then this is perfect. Thank you Banff Trail Riders and Nicole for making this an unforgettable experience!

There is no such thing as a bad day when you are on a horse!
Aug. 2021
This is the second year with the Banff Trail Riders. From the experienced and friendly guides, to the river crossings, fabulous outdoor BBQ lunches, stunning mountain and forest views, healthy strong horses, and well organized days - it is an experience not to be missed. Mandy was our guide this year and she is friendly, competent and even though safety is her top priority she is relaxed and sets the tone for a calm yet fun ride! The cooks, packers and the rest of the staff help the whole team and seem to be a very close group. They are all very professional but still a lot of fun. I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves horses and the outdoors.

They're not sure what the meaning of "customer service" is
Aug. 2021
Absolutely awful customer service and encouraging patrons to still attend despite being told to isolate by AHS. No refunds or rainchecks even for Covid related reasons.

Let me start off by saying I work in tourism activities, and I've been working in hospitality/ customer service for ten years. For that reason, I find it exceptionally hard to believe how a company can have as disgusting and awful customer service as Banff Trail Riders. I was booked in to ride last weekend (under a different name) and due to the Covid outbreak in Banff I was advised to isolate due to being a close contact. As soon as I found out, I rang Banff Trail Riders to ask for a refund or a gift voucher to use for a different day. They were immediately suspicious and told me "we have no Covid cases in Alberta". When pointed out there was currently 83 active cases in Banff alone, they told me if I didn't have a positive test I couldn't get a refund or a rain check to use a different day.

I asked if they would rather I came to still ride, despite being told to isolate, and potentially exposing others to the virus. They told me again, "if you don't give us proof of a positive test, no refund or rain check". The whole way through this conversation, the person on the phone was hostile, disbelieving and rude. I would hazard a guess that due to the massive inconvenience of dealing with this company, many people would just turn up to still ride and potentially infect others. I wasn't one of them, but I would prefer that this company actually respected the safety of others and made it easier to do the right thing when it came to Covid safety. Rethink your policies, rethink your customer service and rethink your attitudes.

Hi Eliza, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We were quite concerned by your feedback, as we have worked very hard on our COVID-19 protocols as the situation and restrictions have evolved, including guests affected by COVID and isolation requirements. Did you book direct with us? Our reservations team are quite aware of the current COVID case status in both Banff and Alberta, and are certainly familiar with local cases as it's a fairly small town and would never deny that COVID cases exist. Over the past 18 months we have worked with many guests affected by the pandemic, to ensure that we can offer them the best customer service experience when there are so many things outside of anyone's control right now. We're not sure who you spoke with, but we certainly wouldn't want to encourage anyone that has been told to isolate, to come along on a ride with us as every guest agrees when booking with us to abide by our COVID-19 protocols. We'd love to welcome you back on a complimentary ride with us, when you're ready, so that we can rectify this situation. Please reach out to our reservations team to ride@horseback.com or 1800-661-8352 so that we can make this right.

Giddy up
First time being on a horse got to say it was a cool experience and would definitely do it again. The trail was ok - we were a group of 7 and went for 1 hour. They do offer 2 hour rides as well. The guides were nice and provided clear and concise instructions prior to riding. I would recommend this activity if your looking to do something in the Banff area.

Amazing tour!!
Aug. 2021 • Family
They answered all my questions after I booked and read the email, each time I spoke to them they made sure that I knew to be there 30 minutes early. They did weigh both of us, to make sure that we were not over the 230 lbs limit for the horses and to pair us with a horse that could safely carry us.. (And no we are not super heavy.. My daughter is super tiny not even close to being over). They were informative, helpful and super friendly, made us feel comfortable before the ride and during. My daughter was nervous but they made her feel comfortable and by the end of the ride my daughter didn't want to stop. It was raining so some parts were a little muddy. Sarah and Nicole were the best! Beautiful views of the Fairmont, rivers and the falls. Sarah was great with all the questions my daughter had. Can not wait to come back and do it again even take a longer tour!!

Loved it so much we went twice!
Jul. 2021 • Couples
So much fun! Had a great experience on our 2hr ride as well as the 1 hr ride we did 48 hr earlier (we had so much fun the first time we came back again!). Horses were terrific and easy to manage whether it was your first time on a horse or if you’re more experienced. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly, trails great with beautiful scenery. Tip: bring bug spray!!..especially for morning rides unless you enjoy red itchy welts from ravenous Banff mosquitoes (they love tourist blood apparently). Also, best to wear full length pants - not shorts, not capris and not leggings with mesh design (those make the most interesting mosquito bite mark designs which you’ll get to enjoy for days along with keeping everyone else guessing what the heck happened to your legs ;) And this should go without saying, but don’t wear white. It’s a dusty trail with horses..you will get dirty and so will those white pants/shirt. We can’t wait to come back again and do an even longer ride (with our bug spray, long pants, non white clothing of course)
