Johnston Canyon Icewalk

271 reviews
Trying to trek along the frozen Johnston Canyon without a guide could be tough in frigid temperatures with icy walkways. Opt to take this guided tour from Banff, and see wildlife, waterfalls, and, of course, a lot of ice. Plus, this tour provides round-trip transport, ice cleats, a hiking pole, a snack, and a hot cup of cocoa to make things super easy on you.

Bow falls is always a beautiful area to visit. Great to visit in February as there are no huge tourist crowds like the summer. Nice walking from the Falls to the Banff springs golf course

We were easily able to access the Bow Falls from our hotel (Fairmont Banff Springs). Great location, lots of local trails for photo opportunities. Check it out.

Walking along the trail system in Banff we happened to come across Bow Falls. Being winter, they were partially frozen, which actually made for better photos if you ask me. Takes a little bit of walking to get here, but the trail is extremely wide open and flat. Worth the quick walk out to see it.

Beautiful, even when it's cold out. Great walking trails are useful when your trying to digest a bellyfull of pizza and beavertails. 😉

We happened to stumble upon the trail to Bow Falls while exploring Banff and are glad we did. It is an easy stroll along the river in the woods to the falls. There are stairs to the view point... so not the best if you have a stroller or wheelchair but that being said you can still see some of the falls without climbing the stair.
