This trail follows the route of the original tram that picked up chateau guests from the train station. It's a well graded trail as a result and also temporarily gets you away from the maddening crowds. It's about 5.5 km to the top with an optional shortcut that is considerably less distance but steeper should you choose.

We enjoyed XC skiing this trail a few years ago and equally enjoyed it on a mountain bike this time. It's a nice gradual climb and not technical -- great for my wife, but really interesting, especially after you learn about the history of the trail -- the Lake Louise tram.
