This was one of the places that I really wanted to see on my trip out west. Everyone told us how beautiful it was. However, getting there this past fall was a total pain in the butt. Because the parks were free everything was super...More

The moraine lake is a must when visiting Canada. The lake with its surrounding peaks is so beautiful - the perfect holiday picture. Personal recommendation: Arrive early in the morning or in the late evening as the tourist crowds block the driveway and all parking...More

We visited Lake Moraine and was amazed how beautiful it was. There is free parking close to the lake and although busy when we visited we found walking around to be good with paths easy to follow. There was a cafe and gift shop here as...More

Lovely to visit - off peak. Plan to avoid peak. I can't stress this enough. Half the planet attempting to negotiate a small road and carpark will kill the experience for you.

If you only go and see one lake in Banff National Park, make it Moraine Lake. Go early, especially if you are coming by car as the car park has only limited spaces. Try out some of the trails and you will be rewarded with...More

I am sure the lake is beautiful but just try getting there. You park starting 50km away and bus it in or park way outside and walk km's to get there with alot of traffic cops. Just drove by.

We made a few attempts at trying to see Moraine Lake, but if we weren't there seemingly by about 7AM, the small parking lot was full and we were turned away. Then we found out we could get there via a free public shuttle. Sounded...More

This scenic lake is absolutely stunning. The turquoise calm waters and towering mountains are definitely worth a visit. There is less car parking so they do limit the numbers of people visiting. I would make this the first of your visits of the day, first...More

What a beautiful colour the lake is but you must climb up to the viewing area to appreciate the best of the turquoise colour . It is set off so well by the outstanding scenery around and is so peaceful that I just wanted to...More

Interesting area to walk around. A bitterly cold and windy place to see. I loved the naturalness of the wood and deposits.

It's not a difficult hike but the ground is very stoney and uneven. Personally I would go for the walk alongside the lake for the safety of your children and peace of mind.

The bus tour would be so much better as you are given all the information you would need about the area when on a tour and you can just sit back and enjoy the fantastic views without the hassle of parking up.

In all likelihood you are confusing the two 'M' lakes, Moraine & Maligne (near Jasper), or possibly a third 'M' lake, Minnewanka (nearer to the town of Bannf). Minnewanka & Maligne both have cruises, but Moraine does not... More
