Gnarly-est hike I've ever done! So cool!

My friend and I visited Lake Morraine in July and once we made through the barrage of tourists and parked, we got on the sentinel pass hike. About .5 miles deep, we had the trail to ourselves since most people take a picture of the lake and leave! This was a grueling hike but really worth it, once you get... More

What a beautiful hike. We were blessed with a great sunny day. After a series of 10 steep switchbacks, you are greeted by the magnificent Larch Valley forest and its Larch trees that turn yellow in early autumn and the awesome valley of the 10 peaks as a background. We would rate this as a moderate but challenging hike. It... More

The driver was half and hour late in collecting us from the designated hotel, finally left at 9:30 an hour late.,so then we were stuck in traffic for another hour.Graham was more interested in getting to the top as fast as he could and not really interested in others on the tour who were struggling with the altitude.Spent 20 mins at... This hike starts by walking along the shore to the right of Moraine Lake. Not far from the lodge, look for the large trailhead notice board on the right with map and description. The trail starts its ascent with sets of switchbacks. After 1.5 mi. you come to a trail junction, Eiffel Lake to the left and Larch Valley/Sentinel Pass... More

Even though we went on a wet, cold day we still enjoyed the hike at Moraine Lake! Unfortunately though we did not make it all the way to the top as we were told by hikers just in front of us that there were two large grizzly's on the trail just around the corner from us. Because we were hiking... More

This was the most monumental hike that we undertook during our 6 day stay in the Banff area. We were unaware of the strict "Must hike in a group of 4" rule due to Grizzly activity. But it was no matter, we made great friends from Ohio at the trail-head, and ventured our way up into the Larch Valley, and... More

One of our favourite hikes. The hike and the views and the scenery are amazing. We headed up there early and had it all to ourselves. Loved it.

Absolutely beautiful walk to Larch Valley. Not too difficult and the yellow leaves of larch trees against the mountains is just mesmerizing. The walk to sentinel pass was a bit more challenging but sooo worth it! Awsome hike and the views are gorgeous

We did this hike in the last week of August 2016. We spent 10 days hiking in the area and this hike was our favourite. The hike switchbacks up the ridge from Moraine Lake. At the top you go through a beautiful larch forest. The forest clears and you end up on a meadow area with stunning 360 degree views... More
