Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

We truly enjoyed our time at the Calgary Stampede. I had pre-purchased rodeo tickets which gave us free Stampede admission. The rodeo was spectacular and the many stables on the grounds gave us lots to do with small children for the rest of the day....More

There's a parking lot on Spiller Road that is a close walk to the grounds (or has a shuttle available). It raises money for charity (STARS), and in previous years it has only been $15 for the day.
