Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

If you're into all things western, how can you not visit the stampede. While the entrance fee is pricey, once you're in you kinda forget about that. The food wagons go on forever and the shows are great. Chuck wagon racing is something to behold. RCMP is great to watch as well. Save your money and spend it here, you... More

When every stall inside is expensive and nothing free atleast there shouldn't be a entry ticket so that families with kids who can't afford to pay $ 100 per visit will be able to visit the stampede with kids and have some fun within their budget. According to me 2016 stampede was a RIP off. Hopefully, stampede management will work... More

If you're a senior there's not much to do at the stampede. Unless you want the bar scene. The rodeo and chucks are OK but in the grounds there's not much for seniors. In the 70's & 80's it was great going to the Stampede. Not now.

This show is still advertised as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Great excitement, great fun. A full Rodeo plus the famous Chuck Wagon Races. A chance for everyone to become a cowboy. Get yourself a Cowboy hat and you will fit right in. I have been a cowboy and always love a chance to gear up with my Western... More

Mum was a bit sceptical as I'd been 3 years beforehand and thought average, BUT we had another Best Day Ever at the Stampede this time round. Atmosphere was awesome. We had tickets for the rodeo which started at 1:15 pm so toured around the halls and stalls beforehand and all had a blast. Rodeo was fantastic, amazing show -... More

Even though the weather was wet this year, there were so many indoor events that we avoided the rain and still had a good time. We went to all the free attractions and tried some new and weird food on the midway that was pretty good. We also bought a piece of original art and pigged out on mini donuts.... More

Great times at the Stampede. I love the agricultural barn and getting close to the animals. Also love the art show and booths selling cowboy themed stuff. The afternoon bucking bronco and calf roping rodeo is fun (and scarey sometimes). The evening chuck wagon races as subsequent stage show are always a good time. The evening fireworks are a long... The fair (amusement rides, games...) is not much different or distinct than any other outdoor fair. The standard rides that can be disassembled and moved with a truck, lots of fried food, and games to win stuffed animals. The Stampede really is not about the fair but the rodeo with its associated entertainment. During Stampede some pretty good bands will... More

Every afternoon see the "chucks". Racehorses pulling a covered wagon around a racetrack. There are 4 wagons in each heat. There are usually eight heats a day. The best wagons run in the last heat or race of the day. They are exciting and fun to watch. The drivers are world class athletes. One of the best events of The... More
