Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

I'm sad to be a bit dissapointed in this place. Had heard it was one of the best rodeos in the world, sure the talents were awesome but the rest was just over-commercialized. It's more like a pop-up fair with rides, that all cost a...More

The stampede has something for everyone. The whole city embraces it and it becomes one large party.starting on opening day with one of the best parades in North America (2 1/2 hours of floats, bands, natives in traditional costumes, cowboys, positions sports teams and clowns)....More

If you are planning your holidays, plan for stampede in Calgary. A fun spend day or two with bull fighting, Chuck wagon races, fire works and various other performances including the hypnotic show and entertainment for children not to be missed at all.

World class event. Lots is basic Carney but the stuff that's not sets it above all else. International flare blended with a country western flair like no other place in the world.

This comment is not original, however it is very accurate. Our family loves festivals and concerts and shows and midways and fair food and exhibits and the Calgary stampede is the best at this in the world. The Rodeo, chuckwagon races are a must see....More
