Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

If you are a fan of horse shows and willing to pay money to see them this is the place to be for you. If not, this is an overpriced fair ground with sometimes decent artists.

We always enjoy the Calgary Stampede. The rodeo is the best rodeo in North America. There is lots to see and do for all ages. The whole city of Calgary celebrates western hospitality during Stampede.

The Stampede is different things for different people. I enjoy a stroll from the north end through the rides area, then back through the Aggie exhibits to the front of the Saddledome. There I enjoy the bands playing on the front steps after which I...More
