Quiet on a Sunday morning.
Sep. 2021
The walk was nice but nothing opens till noon on Sundays. Public washrooms are hard to come by along Stephen Avenue.

Visualizing a lively area post-pandemic
Sep. 2021
Because of the weather (cold and rainy) and the ongoing pandemic, this area was not very lively; however, it would be a lovely place to visit in the summer. Length of time here would depend on if you were just walking through or enjoying the sights and sounds and shopping/eating.

Great spot on a summer's evening

Lots of restaurants - budget to fine dining with outdoor seating in the summer. We appreciated the pedestrian walk way. The flowers are beautiful and we took advantage of its proximity to our hotel and ate here regularly.

More lively than a few months ago! Things are starting to pick up!
Oct. 2020
I don't actually get downtown as much these days, but had an opportunity recently to check a few things out. It's hard to go downtown and not experience Stephen Avenue Walk in some way - and that's good because it is still an interesting place. Since my last visit downtown, things have picked up considerably, and you see more people out and about. Although the patio season is over, most of the restaurants and cafes are open, and most that I saw had lots of people in them. Although we had a freak cold/snow period recently, this last week the weather has been great, and that makes outdoor attractions like Stephen Avenue even more interesting to explore. For Calgarians feeling cooped up, or any visitors passing through, I'd recommend checking it out - you'll find something interesting to see or do or eat or drink, the mall itself is wide enough to make for easy COVID distancing.

Deserted during restrictions - hopefully things will pick up as things open, which should be soon
May 2020
It was a bit sad seeing Stephen Avenue Walk so desolate, but until things start to open, there's very little to do on the Walk - hardly anything's open. My last visit the place was packed during The Glow Winter Festival. Without hordes of office workers livening up the Walk during the day, the restaurants will have a tough time until things return to a more normal routine. Even if you can find a restaurant that is operating as a take-out, its washrooms will likely be closed, and there really aren't any other washrooms open in the vicinity, and that will limit your time. Until everything is back up to speed, you will need to plan ahead carefully, focus on what you want to do, eat, etc., and then head back home or to the hotel. Once the indoor malls open, and all the Walk's shops and restaurants can actually seat people, the Stephen Avenue Walk should regain its old charm again.

Still accessible during winter's cold, but you need to plan ahead
Jan. 2020
When Calgary is in the grip of a cold snap like it is currently, people don't linger on Stephen Avenue Walk, but all the restaurants and attractions on it are still easy to get to. There is quite a lot of indoor parking nearby, and the Plus 15 elevated interior sidewalk system crosses over it and parallels it as several points. By day it is closed to vehicles and in anything but the worst weather, still a nice promenade. After 6 pm, it is open to vehicle traffic and there is some street parking. On our recent visits to downtown Calgary, although we didn't walk its length, we were able to admire it from several vantage points.

Safe and full of life. So many restaurants to choose from. We walked around here late at night and felt safe. Heaps of shops. Fantastic photo opportunities.

Stephen Avenue Walk, welcome to Calgary
Oct. 2019
The heart of Calgary, where you can find many atractions, bars, restaurants and shops, including Lamle's Western Wear, where I got an amazing pair of cowboy boots. The Guild and the Cactus bar are also amazing places for food and beer.

History and business
Oct. 2019 • Solo
Although it snowed early, even for Calgary it was easy to get around. The oil business has been in rough shape for Calgary's economy, so I didn't see a lot of people out and abput like I expected I would on Stephen Ave.. A pretty quiet place for a main shopping / restaurant place and the stores close fairly early. Overall though, I have family history here along with the city's history and the old buildings still look great.
