A soviet or Chinese red modern contemporary design, that doesnt go with classic heritage are of Princes island park,or Kensington . Gets dirty and reg vandalized due to poor design materials. Its design is better suited for downtownTokyo not Western Historic Calgary, of course it draws attention to take a picture of like a crashed jumbo jet in the woods but its out of place..

It can't - unless additional massive amounts of taxpayer funds are wasted. Overrated, unnecessary and should have at least been designed by a local architect and should not have cost what it did. Not much of an attraction, and deteriorating over the years - apparently because it was not really designed to properly withstand Calgary weather.

There’s lots of electric scooters lying about and it’s a nice place to stroll, but other than that, there’s really not much happening around here. Lots of residential buildings and fairly quiet. Wouldn’t really go out of my way again to come here.

We went while it was under construction. It is a cute little bridge. You can get a nice view of the Calgary skyline from the other side of the bridge when coming from downtown. Beautiful nice day made for a nice stroll and then enjoy the Prince's Island Park

Prior to visiting, I found a guide for a walking tour downtown that takes you by sculptures like "Wonderland", "Conversation", etc. We decided to just park in an impark, because it was close to our starting destination. We spent $25 for two hours parking. We did the walk, then has to return to the parking lot prior to visiting the peace bridge and poppy plaza due to our time limit on the parking spot. We then found a parking lot on 10th ave at Poppy Plaza where the parking was $2.50/hour. Go park there and walk to the peace bridge, and walk to the sculptures and art downtown Calgary! Don't get suckered into expensive parking like we did! Take your running shoes! We spent several hours walking and enjoying the sights and trails. Well worth it.

Beautiful architecture and a real addition to the attractiveness of Calgary, the newly-opened Peace Bridge is a delight to behold. Very good location for photography.

Nice bridge but for its price tag I expected something nicer. Total waste of money. Also isn't needed as there are several cheaper options a few blocks on either side of it.

I guess that by calling it the 'Peace Bridge', the politicians who made the $25 million boondoggle decision thought that any controversy would be averted... after all, who can be against 'Peace'?
Designed in Spain, this is not a great fit for our widely varying climate in Calgary. After all, how many -30C days are there in Spain?
I do admit that it looks good on a clear and sunny day.. but it is one of 5 bridges within a few kilometres over the river.
If you are visiting Calgary, sure, take a picture and pose with it in the background. Then go home and show your friends what $25 million can buy and talk to you local politicians to spend this kind of money on needed infrastructure or on social programmes instead.

This bridge was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and ended up costing just over $20M once it was finally complete - for a foot bridge!! There were structural defects, weld issues and other delays which ended up costing us the taxpayers even more. There are 3 other bridges within a fairly close range - this was a very unnecessary expense and it's not even that great to look at. A huge waste of money and should have been contracted out to a Canadian manufacturer.

There is nothing to see, just a pedestrian bridge. It does not count as a tourist attraction. If you visit Calgary, do not waste your time trying to find this anonymous tube.

Is there anywhere to park on the north side of the bridge and then walk across Peace Bridge and walk around downtown? If so, is it free or paid parking?

There's a park on both side of the river. If you park downtown, you will have to pay, if you park on the opposite side of the river in Kensington and take some time to look around there's a few free parking spot in the neighborhood (Kensington), beware of the signage.
