So close to Edmonton, this campground is really difficult to get in to, but if you can find a spot they are generally really nice. There's lots to do with lots of nice trails and a great playground, but the lake is really a mess. The water was quite low when we were there and it stunk quite badly, plus there were thousands of birds that were incredibly loud and messed up the beach.
I would recommend the campground for a really nice short weekend, just don't expect much from the lake and beach.

We went to Miquelon for a day trip. As this is a provincial park we thought it would be well kept. The beach was full of weeds, lots of horse flies and other bugs. The gulls are abundant. The lake is full of weeds, there is algae along the shore line along with white foam. The smell is pretty bad. There was a dead bird on the shoreline with his head missing. The garbage cans had no bags in them. It seems that there is no real maintanence of the beach area. The sand has not been raked nor has the swim area. Very disappointing for a provincial park. We won't be back again. There are several other lakes and private run beaches within an hour of Edmonton.

Visited lake April 3 2014 for a day trip and a nice quite picnic.. It was so nice not a visitor in sight anywhere we had it seemed the park to ourselves.... Until a Park's truck rolled up..and out got a Ranger who shouted at us that we could not park where we had..oh come on there's no one else here I commented.. It's not like we or the car was bothering anyone.. His attitude was very aggressive ..he sat in the parks truck with another ranger and made us very uncomfortable so we packed up our picnic.. Which may I add we had not finished.. And was escorted by the said Ranger's behind my car to the exit of the park..If this is the way visitor's are treated on a VERY quiet day god knows how visitor's are treated when its in full swing.. To much weight being thrown around by rude..aggressive Ranger's.. I for one will never go back to this lake

My close family (grown children and nephews) arrived with multiple cars for multiple sites. From the getgo the attitude from check in was hostile and demanding. Very negative. Then the next morning we were confronted by a warden telling us even though we had the correct number of tents and vehicles per site, we all had to be living in the same household. Why on earth? There is nothing stating this anywhere. We did not get a special family rate! Warnings and threats for the next 10 minutes, making us burn our butter and awaking those sleeping. Very rude. Not enough gravel near the fire pits - mud EVERYWHERE. I had come here for yearsssss but will NEVER be back.

The camp sites were stacked on top of each other. There was some type of clear cutting along the paved pathways that made the surroundings unappealing. Friday night was really noisy, kids screaming and running around the campgrounds till midnight, while their parents sat around the camp fire getting drunk, playing music and ignoring them. I have a 2 and a half year old and she lucky slept through the noise that night; however, we did not fair so well. Saturday night was worse for everyone, my daughter couldn't go to sleep till 10pm because it was so noisy. Then when we thought things might be settling down at midnight, we went to bed only to be woken up by young adults howling and screaming along the pathway behind our campsite. I was so pissed off, with minimal sleep, that we all decided to leave as fast as we could Sunday morning, instead of staying and enjoying a nice brunch like we had originally planned. The lake itself was disappointing, slightly swamp like. The playground at the beach was missing climbing holds and swings. The beach was nothing special. The water was gross, definitely not for swimming in. Overall, this was not an enjoyable or pleasant camping experience for us as a family. Typically, we have had really great camping experiences but not here. Weird mix of people, young adult rowdies, family reunions, and families. Seemed to be no security or employees around to monitor the noise levels. Do not recommend; unless you are into partying all night long, because apparently you can get away with doing that at this campsite.

We have been here for one night and not sure if we are going to stay the rest of the weekend. The only good thing about this place was the nice lady at the front entrance.
You had to wait in a long line to come into the park, even if you were already checked in and left for whatever reason. Conservation officers were blocking the other lane.
From my site, I can see 8 other campsites. Camp staff are rude. There's people beside us that booked two sites for four tents. They were just yelled at by camp staff saying that that's not allowed. (And when I say yelled, I mean it's 9am, and I could hear the camp person from inside my trailer giving them crap like they were her six year old kids)
The sites themselves are poorly maintained. Ours was full of garbage when we got here, and the fire pit was full also. We had to shovel it out before we used it- with the crappy wood they sold us.
Don't even get me started on the lake. It's June and it smells like sewage. I would never swim in this lake. I'm glad I don't have to camp beside it.
If you're set on camping in a provincial park close to the city, pigeon lake and wabauman are 100% better than this place. You can also check out battle lake, at least the camp caretakers treat you like a human and keep the place clean.

We have been camping here with friends several times a summer every year for the past four or so years. It has pretty good privacy, alot better than other campsites we been to and it's great to book several sites and hang out with friends. The water is nothing special however so I wouldn't go expecting to enjoy the water. Very close to Edmonton which makes it super easy after work to hop over there. Scenic drive.

A great girls camping weekend. We were super impressed with cleanliness of the washrooms/showers. We were in a trailer in a powered site and the site was a drive through which made it great and stress free for parking and set up. The lots were well treed and private and were a great size. We purchased wood for $8/ bag at the site centre... only pain was that we walked up to the centre to buy the wood and even though they had it there we couldn’t purchase it there when the front gate was also open and had to go get the car and go purchase it there... otherwise was a great place and close to the city to go camping for the weekend

We camped at Miquelon in July and did enjoy our site. HOWEVER, the beach is a nightmare! You can't and wouldn't want to go in the water. It's discussing. Even from 20 feet away from the water you start to smell rotting sewer smell. There were several dead decaying sea gulls all along the shore. I understand water levels, etc, blah blah blah,,,, BUT the shore line should be maintained and removal of the birds and everything else rotting along there.
If you're looking for a nice camping , with beach and fun for children, STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

What are the fees for camping in October? Where is the closest place to buy wood?
Written October 12, 2019
In the summer the convenience store in front of the entrance of the Provincial Park is open. I believe it is called Miquelon Lake Store. They sell groceries, alcohol, firewood and ice cream.
