We bought ISUPs and started down the N Saskatchewan River here twice. The parking lot was VERY close to the shore. The river is not swift here and it is a shallow sandy bottom so it was perfect for entry. We took 2.5 to 3 hours to float and paddle to Capilano boat launch in sunny calm weather both trips. We went mid week both days. We had a small dog, a chihuahua, on the front of one board that loved it too.

I love this place. It's wonderful if you want to go for a nice walk on a paved or natural path. You can stay in the open area where there is the off leash dog park or you can go for a nice long walk all the way to William Hawrelak Park.

They have the wood burning stoves on a swivel and some larger pits with grills. I go on weekdays so not sure if there would be spots available on weekends. Nice trails and you can always take in the zoo while there.

I went to this park
several times a week for about 8 years with my previous dog and it was always a lot of fun. Dog owners were courteous and dogs were well behaved.
Today (a Sunday) I brought my 5 month old puppy and it was immediately surrounded by a group of large dogs. The owners laughed and said that she would have to learn the rules. Most of them got tired of sniffing her fairly soon but a German Shepherd would not stop chasing her down. She was yelping and clearly frightened so I asked who owned that dog. The owner then called him off. I left and I won't be back to a park where owners seem to enjoy watching their dogs terrify smaller dogs.

It's my neighbourhood park, and it's ok for walks or picnics with the little ones. The parking is problematic, especially when you have to carry picnic baskets and toddlers

I think this is the best park in Edmonton! We visit here with our dog (at the off leash park) at least 3 times a week. The park is clean and has amazing paths to walk along. There is even a beach for the dogs to swim in the river! Love it here!

Laurier Park is an excellent spot to walk along the North Saskatchewan flood plain. There are a variety of trails, reasonable parking and an off leash area for dog lovers. You can get many views of the river and there is a large foot bridge that connects to Hawrelak Park which also is a good place to bring families with children.

Great place to walk the dog off leash and for him to socialize with other dogs. There is access to the river for the dogs to splash around in the summer and a field for throwing the ball or frisbee.

This is a nice little park but it's very busy in summer. I come here because there's geocaches hidden here. (geocaching - high tech treasure hunting using a GPS)
I'm sure I'll be back to geocache someday...

I do like this dog park and the trails through the river valley that also connects to Hawrelak park. This is especially convenient during Heritage days in August when parking is non-existent at Hawrelak. You can walk for miles and not see many other people which is both good and bad. I'm not sure I would walk there alone without my dogs. Bikes, running and hiking are all welcome but remember you're sharing the trails with the dog walkers too.
