The views were amazing, and Chad our tour guide/ bus driver was the best. He was very knowledgeable and he made it such a fun trip. Definitely recommend!

We went as a family of four with an AB resident discount to Icefield and Skywalk adventures. We thought it was a shame you had to book it as a package BC three out of four of us are afraid of heights and wouldn't do Skywalk. The icefield tundra buggy ride was informative and entertaining because of our awesome guide Tex. However, upon arrival, it is breathtaking for sure, but we expected more than just 30 mins of take your own pics; especially for the price. With discount, it was approximately $400 for 4 of us.

If you’re looking to walk on the world’s most visited glacier and drink pure, glacial water, look no further. This is it!
Check-in was quick and efficient and everything is organized for you from start to finish. You take a shuttle from the hub to board the all-terrain Ice Explorer, ride to the glacier, spend 25 minutes free time roaming the glacier, and then ride back on the Ice Explorer to then board another shuttle to the SkyWalk. Once done at the SkyWalk, you take your last shuttle back to the hub. From start to finish, plan on 2.5-3 hours visit. And definitely bring an empty water bottle with you to fill up on DELICIOUS glacial water!
The SkyWalk was great in that it not only had wonderful views of the glacial peaks in Sunwapta Valley, but there were various placards along the way, so it felt like an outdoor museum. This was beautifully designed.
We ate at the cafeteria and it wasn’t bad. Get the butter chicken and rice as well as the chicken tenders with fries — much better than the chicken burger (just meh) and chicken noodle soup, which was canned soup btw. Very bland.
Staff overall throughout the hub were kind and efficient.

Great experience if you want to walk on a glacier. The steep grades on the road to and from the glacier in the special vehicles are an experience alone.

We always wanted to experience going to the Columbia Icefield, We had read about it and friends of ours had already experienced this adventure. It was well worth the trip, our tour guide Marc, was funny, professional, and passionate about the icefield and the concerns of how climate change is affecting the glacier. The cafeteria is however overpriced, $13.00 for a slice of pizza is ridiculous.

My review gave this tour a zero. It was very overpriced for what was provided. I will tell everyone I know to skip this tour. The drive along the highway was spectacular with the Rockies, vegetation and wildlife. Unfortunately, because we hurried so not to miss our tour we skipped going to Lake Louise. After our tour, Lake Louise was so crowded that we could not visit. We should have gone to Lake Louise in the morning and skipped the tour. It was expensive and not at all worth the cost!!!

Hi my family is planning to drive to Columbia Icefield around 18-20 October 2023. Can we see the Icefield from the visitor centre as I understand the Skywalk will be closed on 9 October. Does the sunset early like before 5pm?

We were there last year around that time. Yes, you can see the Icefield from the visitor center very clearly from a distance. In fact, it's quite a panaramic view. Oddly, you can't see the Icefield from the Skywalk. It was open when we visited then and it provides nice views of other areas.
I can't recall when the sunset is. However, it does start to darken early because of all the mountains and forests.
You didn't mention how long you were going to be there, but it sounds like you are just going up for the day. If that is the case, I'd suggest you head out as early as possible.

Visiting in a few weeks as part of a larger tour Calgery to Vancouver.
What is recommended clothing and footwear. i.e. how cold is it there etc.

We visited late May and found it best to layer up. We didn't need a hat but glad I had a pair of gloves with me. It's very bright on the ice so sunglasses are a good idea along with sensible footwear. The 30 minutes on the glacier pass quickly. Enjoy your trip.

Would we need to pre book the tour? We will be going from Banff to Jasper on 12th June but not sure if it will be too late by the time we get there or wait till 16th June when we are going from Jasper to Lake Louise. Advice appreciated.

When is the best time of year to travel to see the glaciers in Alberta, Canada? Which times are usually more favorable, because of weather conditions to allow safer travel to the glaciers?

We were there end of September. Very busy. Recommend going on last tour of day when it’s less crowded, better light and better photos.
