The people at the Jasper Informative Centre are very helpful. They offered many suggestions. I would recommend to go there first for things to do. Covid practices are in place. A person lines up to go and see an information officer. The officer is behind plexi glass. The information center is right across from the train station.

This was a really good place to go for extra information about what there is here. The staff are helpful and friendly and will help you sort out what to do and what's best for you. So much to see and do for one too short trip! Thanks guys!

Very helpful staff. We bought the park ticket for the car. We were given information leaflets for Jasper and Banff. They gave suggestions of what to do for our 3 days. The first day we went and bathed at the hot springs. The second day we went to a glacier (1.5 hour away) which we had booked with our travel agent. The 3rd day we hired bikes and went around lakes. Route 93 has amazing waterfalls which we did as we left to go to Lake Louise
We ate Indian , Chinese, pasta and pizzas. There is a great bakery, which you will need to queue at. Plenty of small gift shops.A busy small village

This is just one “ component “ of the truly wonderful stretch between Jasper and Banff.

One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Canadian Rockies that essentially merges with Banff National Park along the Icefields Parkway.

Exceptional opportunities to enjoy the wildlife and the wilderness present along this route.

Many short family friendly walks can be found as well as extreme, remote and dangerous terrain.

This is a truly remarkable and unspoilt part of our earth.

The Information Centre is the heart of Jasper National Park. Stop in the moment you hit town.

Pick up trail maps, shopping, dining and accommodation guides, and find out which walks are best-suited to your abilities. If you're planning on camping, they have all the latest information on which campsites still have room. If you're looking for a hotel room, they can help.

If you're a backcountry hiker, pick up your backcountry pass and leave an itinerary with the Parks staff. If you want to try a few dayhikes, ask them to suggest a few nice ones. Check on trail conditions, bear reports, weather forecasts and anything else you need to know to have a fun and exciting stay.

No sales pitches, just a lot of really good information and some really helpful people.

While perusing the gift shop in the info center, noticed that they do a nightly walking tour during the summer months. Wasn't sure what exactly to expect but it was a fantastic tour and a great way to learn more about Jasper - its history and some of its more colorful characters. The tour guide worked at the info center and was excellent - her memory was impressive and obviously had a real passion for Jasper's history and environment.

The Walk in the Past tour is a great walk to do to learn about the history of Jasper. The Friends of Jasper are always putting on fun free hikes and full moon hikes. While visiting us here in the Information Center, its always good to see what hikes or walks they maybe doing.

Being that I already knew what I was planning on doing because of doing sufficient research, I didn't need to go for that. I came early in the morning for my permit to visit the magnificent Edith Cavell on the next day, of which the staff was super nice and friendly. I got my desired time no problem, being fourth in line😀. Later that day, after getting rained out and doing some local things, I came back to talk to one of the workers about the general areas some of the wildlife might be hanging out. She pulled out a map and circled where some of the animal sightings were earlier that day, which was helpful. Although there are no guarantees you'll see the animals when going to where the earlier sightings were, they go where there's a good food source and especially the herds of grazers have a general tendency to hang in the same area for a while. One excellent sighting I had was right near the intersection of highway 16 and Maligne Lake road of a herd of elk, with the beautiful bull and his harem, including a couple of calves. It was really neat to see one of the calves feeding off mom and you should've seen the look on her face when I took photos!!! Priceless😀. The bull wasn't particularly happy I was stopped on the side of the road opposite the herd. Please notice what was just stated. They were agitated I was anywhere near them. The bull was in rut in mid September, meaning a very aggressive animal. Frankly, they LOOK a lot like nothing more than a timid large deer, but please do NOT get out of your car and approach them. You're asking for trouble. Just like you and me, they have their space they need or they will either run or charge. Please respect all animals space and follow the guidelines of the brochures you can get in the information Center. The woman I talked to had circled this general area on the and was right. Please make sure to talk to them about where to possibly find the animals and you may be rewarded. No guarantees though. Some animals roam larger distances, like grizzlies and back bears. Bighorn sheep seem to have certain general areas they return to feed, as do mountain goats. I had the privilege of seeing a gorgeous herd of five bighorn sheep in mid afternoon, one which has a huuuge rack of horns, when returning from beautiful Maligne Lake. Another one has small horns, probably two years old or so. These were some of my best animal sightings when in the Canadian Rockies, thanks in part to the Jasper Information staff. I will also mention the building is beautiful, with some souvenirs and a LOT of information. Bathrooms are clean too. In conclusion, I highly recommend coming here if you need help in deciding what to do, or if like me you want to know where you could possibly see animals. You will be happy you did😀.

Located in one of the oldest and prettiest buildings in Jasper, the center has lots of free printed maps and guides. However, the real help with a smile came from the staff who recommended what walks were suitable for us to try and what sights to visit - they even told us where that day we could see a bald eagle sittiing on her egg in a nest (with warnings not to get too close). We were also told which outdoor attractions were closed because access raods were flooded. Our visit to Jasper started here and so should yours.

No restroom facilities - but there are facilities just across the main road.

Jasper is doing its best in this pandemic including still assisting visitors. They are doing it in a safe distanced matter.

This is a great place to get all of the info you need to explore Jasper. the staff is super friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. The building is architecturally interesting, and there is a gift shop.

WAIT... the gift shop is operated by a non-profit, has very unique items and all of the money raised goes back into the park. This is a gift shop worth visiting.

We made this our first stop, and are glad we did. The info we got helped us plan our trip, and we are thankful to all of the helpful staff.
