Jasper Park Golf Course

About
Stanley Thompson, Canada's master golf course architect, displayed some of the finest work of his career with this design. The 18-hole layout offers elevated tee boxes, dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with distant mountain vistas. He built wide fairways that carve through thick forest, and maintained a partnership with the environment's natural contours, blending beautiful landscapes with challenging terrain. As a result, few golf courses in the world can match the rugged majesty of this national treasure.

Golf Digest considers too many variables when they rate a course: pro shop, food, scenic views, etc. Unfortunately, I think the raters allowed the beautiful mountains to overly influence their ranking for this course. Yes, it's beautiful. But there are no jaw-dropping tee shots that make you go weak in the knees. It's just a nicely manicured, well designed, challenging golf course. Nothing wrong with that, but this course should not be ranked in the top 10 in Canada. In fact, compared the drama of the Icefields Highway from Banff to Jasper, even the mountains that surround the golf course are sort of ho hum.

A beautiful golf course. I am bias towards mountain courses - something awe-inspiring - both golf and personally! The course appears to have been designed to highlight the surround nature and if it is by accident, awesome! Spectacular views, elk munching on grass next to greens, well maintained. I will go again...and again...

First class resort golf course with sensational views. Cost is very high, yet the experience is worth it. Friendly staff, driving range is small, only mats, balls included in green fees.

Have both a chipping area and a putting area, both very small

Some outstanding staff!
Thank you to Delaney and Robby for organizing everything and a huge shout of appreciation to Glenn and Brian who really went above and beyond.
I hope management realizes what valuable assets you are and look forward to seeing you there next time I come through.

It's too bad my visit was cut short.

100 bux for 6 garbage local beers and a couple hot dogs. Premium location, you'd expect premium labels. Golf good.

Nothing can beat the majestic views on every hole! I've played Cabot links/cliffs and they are more of a strict golfer's destination. JP plays more like a resort course with slow greens. Thoroughly enjoyable, especially being paired with 2 members who were so helpful. The staff are very competent and friendly. I would come back any time, but don't feel the need to make it a priority compared to Cabot or Bandon Dunes. Walkable course, but we failed to enquire about that and rode.

My wife and I golfed twice in three days, this was our first visit. The course is beautiful and very playable for all skill levels. Service was great. Our complaints were with the number of people who knew nothing about golf etiquette, pace of play or the rules of golf. From people wearing soccer cleats, not fixing ball marks, grounding clubs in traps etc etc. In short all of these things made, what should have been a great experience, very much not enjoyable. I’m not sure what the solution is other than perhaps a brief spiel on basic rules, etiquette and pace of play prior to tee off.

The customer service was really great. There was a mix-up with out tee time and the staff simply accommodated us and said it was not our fault. They "fit us in". Similarly when a lady asked to take a cart down a little path to the road to get her clubs (due to her bad knee). They said not allowed but then said okay we will make an exception. It seemed a very reasonable exception in the circumstances. The entire attitude of the staff seemed to be to make things work rather than mindlessly enforce rules as some places would do. The golf course was great as well as expected.

4 friends golfed the JPL for the first time and were all impressed by the scenery and layout of the course. However, we were not impressed by the conditions and pace of play. There were many dead patches on greens, tees and fairways. We played in late June, so this isn't winterkill. Unfortunately, the greens were also very slow. To top it off, the round was 5.5 hours long.

The regular price is not justified given the conditions. Don't get me wrong...the course is beautiful and scenic, but for the posted price, I expected pristine conditions. The employees were all outstanding and the service was great.

This was the first time my husband and I played this course and it was absolutely spectacular. Truly worth every penny - $210 per person, including the cart. Every hole is unique with beautiful views. We often caught ourselves just looking around and taking it all in. It was in great condition and the only sad part was that we didn’t see any wildlife. The Staff was very friendly and next time we will actually stay at the resort - which looked beautiful.
