We booked this trip very late as we only had one day in Jasper. There were 5 other people on the bus which made it a nice small group. Our guide (I’m really sorry I can’t remember his name) was really knowledgeable about not only the specific area but also about many other things. The scenery was amazing and the information was excellent. It was mostly downhill with a couple of uphill stretches but nothing too taxing. Would definitely recommend this.

First, the Jasper Area is beautiful. We enjoyed our entire stay and plan to return. For various logistics reasons, we had to rely on SunDog Transportation to get us from Jasper to Calgary. Setting up the reservation was seamless and the staff was very helpful with our questions prior to our travel day. Unfortunately, the day of travel was quite chaotic. To our surprise, we were unaware that when we arrived in Edmonton, we were told we would be getting off the SunDog Shuttle. The shuttle drove to a very busy mall parking lot where multiple drivers were waiting with various types of vehicles to take individuals and groups to their next destination. ??? This is where the original shuttle driver should have been communicating clear instructions and directions….He caused more confusion…Changing vehicles was never mentioned online or noted when talking with the staff. This is was unexpected. It would have been very helpful if the secondary drivers would have had signage to make the transition easier. It was very confusing, and the secondary drivers displayed impatience and were quite rude. My husband and I were not sure where we were going after getting in the back of the SUV which we were told would be taking us to the next pick up location??? It was a very uncomfortable feeling. With minimal communication, our driver stopped at the side of the street, next to a Red Line Bus terminal and told us this is where we get out?? What in the World?? So there we were, standing on a sidewalk, somewhere in Edmonton. I went into the terminal and thankfully one of the Associates explained that the bus to Calgary would be arriving in a few minutes and we had two seats reserved on the Bus. It would have been very nice if these steps would have been communicated on the website and on the reservation. I would recommend the owners of SunDog take this shuttle incognito to understand how confusing this process is. And provide better communication to customers regarding logistics when arriving in Edmonton and contract/hire professional drivers without attitudes.

We did the Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake cruise and Spirit Island tour with this company today. The tour content was excellent and it was nice being on a smaller bus (22 people) rather than a full 50+ people coach. However, compared with the two Brewsters tours we have done this week, the organisational arrangements and guide were not as good. In particular, the bus was nowhere near as comfortable - large viewing windows with no air con and only small openings to windows on one side only of the bus meant a greenhouse effect by the afternoon which wasn’t pleasant on the return to Jasper - luckily it wasn’t as hot and sunny as recent days! The tour was originally sold to us at our travel agency as a half day tour; when I phoned to confirm pick up time and location I was told that it would be 6 hours with no lunch provided so to bring food. We did this and then everyone was given time to buy lunch at Maligne Lake! The trip ended up being 6.5 hours long.

We took the 12 hour guided trip from Jasper to Banff on the Icefields Parkway, with Sundog Tours. I recommend this for all of your bucket lists! We saw the Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, Athabasca Glacier, Peyto Lake and so many stunning mountains, glaciers, and waterfalls, always following the beautiful river. We walked on the icefields Skywalk which is cool and were fortunate to see some wildlife. And we had the benefit of our nature loving guide Dave, who reminded us to put down the cameras and just experience all that nature is. Dave was a great guide - so knowledgeable and quite funny! I wish I could have bottled the feel of the cool air on my face while on the glacier. It was magical!

This trip left me with a very important lesson which I will forever value, there is no word in the English language that is strong enough to express the disappointment and absolute disgust I had for this tour. Unless you enjoy or are prepared for brutal delays, tardiness, a pitiful “view”, and overall miserable as well as inconvenient experience, don’t even think about coming in the slightest. Take this trip only if you have nothing to do in your life and have money to throw away. Trains are super desolated and there are no announcements. If you are looking for a good view, go on YouTube or just stand by the train station, the train ride itself was absolutely pitiful in every way possible. Most of the ride consisted of looking at trees, barely any mountains, rivers, or anything else that might be of appeal. Just trees. Personally I think I would have enjoyed burning a couple hundred dollar bills and eating the ashes for dinner more than this.
