We enjoyed a fantastic trip from Lake Louise (only spend 1 night there 😬) up to Jasper. It's a long hike about 10 hours but worth every penny. Lots of great scenery, especially if you like lakes, and a fun ride in monster coaches up to a glacier. Special shout out to our guide/driver Steve, who was entertaining and knowledgeable, but unfortunately didn't find us bests 😕!

We took the Sundog tour from Jasper to Banff and it really is the only way to make this journey.Dave, our driver and guide, was really informative and funny. He ran a tight ship and everything went perfectly.Had a great outdoor picnic lunch at an amazing view point, visited the waterfalls, Columbia Icefields and Skywalk, and stopped at various places along the route to marvel at the spectacular scenery-amazing day.

Travelled this week from Banff to Jasper with Dave! It was the best bus trip I have ever experienced. We saw so much, did so much and Dave was an excellent guide. I was especially impressed with the time he allowed us to sit and watch a bear by the roadside. He was also very good with passengers who didn’t speak English!
I will tell all my Australian friends about this tour.

Sat 9.23.23 Our guide Ben was fantastic. He had a background in environmental science (or something similar) and shared so much information and interest in all that we saw. He did his best to point out wildlife and we were able to see a mother moose and baby twice on our route. He did his very best to accommodate everyone on our tour in every way. (Bea and Jordan were our guides on the cruise to Spirit Island and they too made it a very enjoyable trip!) Thanks Ben, Bea and Jordan for a very enjoyable day in Jasper!

There was many companies offering tours to Spirit Island and Medicine Lake and the Maligne valley. However, Fred made this trip. It was not hooky or full of corny jokes and memorized scripts. Fred knows the area and shared his love and knowledge of the geology, the uniqueness of the lake and - although it was not a wildlife tour - his awareness of the animals around us - and the impact of humans on this environment. We saw moose (cow and baby) and a bull moose, mountain rams, and even bear scat. We signed up for the tour with the walking portion - the Maligne gorge. Fred had great stories about encounters with bears. There was no script. Just Fred. And he was wonderful. He answered every question and he even helped us with some ideas for walking trails that we might enjoy. My friend left her scarf on the bus (unknowingly). Fred made a visit to our VBRO 30 minutes later to return it. I cannot praise this tour enough. The boat portion to Spirit Island was very good and we had around 20 minutes to walk the viewing path. Our guide on the boat portion was also very good.

We went on their wildlife viewing tour on September 10. We paid quite a lot for the 3 hour tour to be put in a huge tourist bus and driving on the highway. If you have a vehicle- save the money and go around yourself. The guide weren’t looking for wildlife, he looked for other cars in the roadside to hint that there’s something there. “Surprisingly” we didn’t see anything.
On top of this - we could probably have been informed about the above if we had called and asked - the reason for the 1 star review is that the bus was so hot that some of the passengers actually started feeling bad in the bus and chose to leave to tour halfway through. The guide did what he could, he had brought cold water to chill us down and according to him, he had asked for another bus, because he had already informed the company earlier about the issues with the heat. Given we were on a tour to watch the wildlife, it would have been nice to have clean windows to look out of. Again an issue that the guide had informed the company about. The tour ended around 9pm, but because of the tinted windows in the bus we couldn’t see anything after it started getting dark out around 8. It so so unprofessional of the tour company not to either reschedule the tour or cancel it this late in the season.

We scheduled our tour of Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake months in advance with Sundog Tours. Other than recommendations from our travel advisor, we knew nothing about the company. We crossed our fingers and within only a few minutes after boarding the bus the morning of the tour, we knew we'd won the lottery with the driver/guide that had been assigned to our group. Jeff H. was fantastic in every way. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of what we saw and experienced, but was the epitome of what a guide should be: professional, courteous, and always aware of the needs of the individuals in his group. He left no stone unturned when it came to keeping all of us informed administratively as to what we should expect and what he expected of us, i.e. what we were doing at the moment, what we'd be doing next, where to be, and when to be there. This tour with Jeff and Sundog could not have been better in any way and we would highly recommend them to anyone interested in seeing and experiencing Jasper National Park and all it has to offer.

Would take this tour company our next visit to Canada. Our drivers were always professional, experienced, and full of so much information and history of the areas they drove their passengers to. It was fun, enjoyable, and a lifetime memorable experience on a motorcoach with knowledgeable drivers who were fun to be around and share their history of the area , falls, rivers, lakes, everything. Thank you Sun Dog Tours !!
