We only did the Telescope Experience and not the Planetarium one. We had 4 young post-grad aged guides (I can only remember 2 of their names - Ash & Luke), all 4 of them were very engaging to listen too and it was lovely to see how enthusiastic they were about all things space! You could tell there was a genuine passion which was lovely to see. We learnt a lot of cool facts - it was fascinating, time flew by! All 4 of them were more than happy to answer any questions anyone in the group had and emphasised that they were more than happy for anyone to stay out longer than the scheduled time of the event if we wanted to look through the telescopes some more, or ask about photographing the night sky, or just chat to them about their passion of space! All in all a lovely evening! They even had a campfire crackling away in the background which added to the atmosphere.

Great learning experience. We learned a ton about auroras and many space phenomenons. There was a mix up in our tour time but they still accommodated us which was nice.

Great presentation of the skies, going from early constellations from Greek and First Nation to a wide view of the galaxies. Very informative and interesting. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, he was available to answer questions before and after.

Jerry took us on a fascinating tour thru the cosmos. Very happy to see that it included a video of an indigenous Elder sharing the story of #MistaMuskwa aka the Big Bear. Hoping they include more Indigenous representation in their interpretive programs. We then met up with Peter and Ashley, 2 astronomy students (MA/PhD?) who explained meteors, asteroids, moon rocks and auroras. I learned that the sun farts and we see green lights in the sky - northern lights. Simple but essentially that’s it. Highly recommended-stay up one evening during your vacay and give it a go!

Our guide for the planetarium had so much passion for the topic that she gave us an incredible experience. The indigenous portions were fascinating and left us wanting to find out more. This is something that everyone will enjoy.

We went to the planetarium as a fun activity on our work retreat and were absolutely not disappointed! We had an absolute blast with our team Kaleyn, Ashley, Peter M, Peter Y and Peter T!! They were so much fun and so incredibly engaging the entire time we were there. We had a blast learning about the history of the stars in the sky, space rocks and the science behind the Northern Lights! Thank you all tremendously for your energy and engagement! Bravo!

My friends and I had an amazing time at the Jasper planetarium last Saturday. We saw some really cool constellations and learned about Indigenous history. Tenille and Jerry gave an amazing presentation and Peter Y and Devin had a very engaging conversation with us about space. It was an engaging and really cool experience all together!

Hello, tickets are from age 4. Does this mean my 2.5 year old won’t be able to come?

Hi Eleanor
Unfortunately after substantial feedback from customers and to preserve the magical experience inside the dome theatre, no children under 4 are permitted in our planetarium. For families with children under 4, we have several options that may allow some-or-most of your party to experience the planetarium... * One option is to I have one parent stay outside with the child who is under 4 while other family members attend and (if desired) have that parent switch with the parent who is in the dome aferwards so they can attend (possibly with other any family members who weren't in the first time slot) in one of our other time slots. * Another option is that we offer child care services for anyone who would like to purchase the babysitting services of our child care partner My Jasper Nanny, who is also the official childcare servus of Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. You can make arrangements for one or more younger children to be taken care of through this service. Hope some of those options are helpful!

Hi there!
We are open and have tours you can book every day in September.
Let me know what URL you're trying to book at and what shows up when you try to select a day in Sept to book and I can walk you through how to book.
OR if that's still not working, you can just call (780) 931-3275 and we can book you over the phone
Hope that helps!

I’m planning on going in mid September is it a good month to go? I also see you guys have a lot of packages, I really want to be in a dark place and see lots of starts maybe the Milky Way and we’re lucky the auroras! I wouldn’t mind other activities as long as we get to see some stars (weather permitting)

If it is not cloudy you'll see tons of stars. We went in May and saw tons but it was a clear night.

Do I need to book tickets for planetarium events or can I buy the tickets on the same day?
intro2001
Port Hope70 contributions
Hi Isabela!
We highly recommend booking in advance. In the summer months we are frequently sold-out.
And while fall is typically less busy, last night - for-example - we were full and had to turn several people away.
Hope that helps and hope to see you out under the dark skies of Jasper!
Peter
