Beautiful Japanese gardens, burbling creek and waterfalls gives an air of peacefulness and tranquility. But other than that- it was smaller than expected and not informative enough at all. I was expecting more history and information - especially in the little house. Even though it was end of season and COVID is happening- there could be more information about the history of the Japanese in the area and their culture. Even an info board about the tea ceremony would have been good. Missed opportunity for a learning environment.

Hi Nadine, First of all, we're sorry you weren't pleased with your visit to Nikka Yuko this season. As you pointed out, we did have several restrictions in place due to COVID this season. Namely, our guided tours were cancelled this year. However, all guests are provided with a very comprehensive self-guided tour brochure and map that gives a detailed history on the garden, Japanese-Canadians in Southern Alberta, and the pavilion among other information. In addition to the brochures, we had 7 signs placed throughout the garden at key interest points explaining them. We also provide a free audio tour that can be accessed through your mobile device that takes you through the garden. I apologize if these opportunities were not brought to your attention or you didn't have a chance to take advantage of them during your visit. Our staff had to adapt to new restrictions in a short period of time and we appreciate the understanding of our guests as we face new challenges. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding your visit, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at 403-328-3511 or marketing@nikkayuko.com.

We found the gardens very quiet, peaceful and very beautiful. Only a short easy walk but great views in all directions.

We toured around the gardens in August 2020. My family and I enjoyed it a lot. it was peaceful hearing the small waterfalls. The trees were well maintained and shaped nicely. Great spots to take pictures.

A must visit when in Lethbridge. A peaceful retreat in the midst of a city. The tea ceremony is very interesting. The guide had learned the skills while living in Japan. Able to maintain safe distancing. A lovely spot to take your book and relax.
