About
Birds of prey have always inspired awe. Sadly, they are threatened in many parts of the world. When you experience them up close, you learn that they are more than predators from the sky; they are essential to maintaining the delicate eco-balance of our planet. The Raptors offer compelling and interactive experiences with a variety of birds of prey species including eagles, hawks, falcons and owls. Get closer than you ever imagined to these majestic and intelligent creatures. Flying demonstrations, hands-on encounters and educational talks offered daily (March - October). The Raptors is located in the heart of the beautiful Cowichan Valley, just 60 minutes north of Downtown Victoria and 45 minutes south of Downtown Nanaimo by car.

Make The Time - You'll Never Regret It
Logistics Tip - We traveled via ferry from Vancouver to Victoria (Ferry - Vancouver to Tsawwassen) then drove north to Duncan to see the Raptors. Rather than go back to Victoria, we traveled a short bit further and hopped on the Ferry at Duke Point that brought us back to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal in Vancouver. This was an AMAZING experience. We did the "closest encounter" where we got to walk through the grounds before meeting Ryley, our guide, and interacting with "Slightly, Emerald, Fraction & Theo." "Kyle" the raven was a sweetheart, too, prancing around in his enclosure and pool hankering for our attention. The older I get the more I appreciate what raptors do for the environment and why they are important in the food chain. Ryley expertly handled our four new acquaintances and answered our every question. We learned why vultures are a bird of prey but not a raptor because they don't have the three sharp "S's" - Sharp beak, sharp eyes and sharp talons. When Slightly flapped his wings and headed for the piece of meat on my leather glove, it was like nothing I've ever experienced. You could feel the wind on your face as he landed gently and picked up his treat. Don't. Miss. This.

    A fun and informative experience!
Spent a terrific afternoon here with group of 6 ranging from age 23-90. General presentation was entertaining and informative. We all really enjoyed the extra Hawk's Encounter we purchased, highly recommend. Would like to return and do an even longer experience, but with the older folks in our group we didn't feel comfortable signing up for a longer event this visit. We all agreed it was a fun afternoon and something different than anything we had done before.

    An unforgettable raptor experience
Fantastic! Three of us booked the "closest" experience and loved every minute of it. Kudos to very helpful (Tina) and knowledgeable (Isaac) staff. The presentation was also extremely informative and delivered with a much enjoyed touch of humour (sorry, I did not catch her name). A definite must!

The opportunity to get up close and personal with the raptors was what drew us here. My friends did the "Closest" tour and got to hold the birds and have them land and take off on them, which they really enjoyed. It was unfortunately raining pretty heavily so the demonstration wasn't as pleasant as it could have been, though they made the most of it! The birds were beautiful and majestic, the staff were great, but the site itself left a bit to be desired: the birds were hard to see behind the thick mesh and hiding from the rain. We probably would have loved it a lot more in the sun!

A wonderful experience to be able to see these amazing birds up close, we chose the general admission and stayed for 2 flying demonstrations, well worth it! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the birds are well cared for and free to fly away if they so desire but always come back…also great for kids to learn and appreciate them

My wife and I had a spectacular experience here and would 1000% recommend. We did the Raptor Experience and started at 2:15pm. It was a beautiful sunny day which elevated the experience even more.

Every person we met from the Raptors was pleasant, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Really enjoyed our time with Alex. She was very friendly and knows her stuff!

Spend the extra money on the Raptor Experience. You will not regret it. The birds all have such personality and are magnificent creatures.

What a fantastic experience, even though we had some inclement weather the team at The Raptors put on an excellent show offering witty comments whilst producing a dynamic show.
All I can say is well done and thanks for a wonderful experience. More than worth the entrance fee.

We were visiting friends and this came up as a whim.

This was a fantastic experience and I have a whole new perspective on raptors then I did before.

We did the Closer experience, and the most amazing part was the interaction with the bird when we were doing the arm landing.

I highly suggest this place to anyone travelling through the area.

Fabulous experience in every way! We chose the “Closest” experience and it was so worth it. We got to put on a falconer’s glove and actually hold 4 different raptors! Plus the Hawk Walk where a hawk swooped down and took food off the glove. The flying demonstrations were so cool and amazing. The women leading those did such a great, informative and entertaining job. We have been on cloud 9 since stumbling upon this gem of a place!
