As one of the few “true” desert golf courses in Canada, Bighorn is set among natural sage, rolling hills, bent grass fairways, gently contoured greens, and sweeping views of the Thompson Valley. The par 71, 6714 yard golf course meanders in and around residential neighborhoods and community amenities. Up to five tee boxes in strategic locations, fairways carved through natural canyons, views of the Thompson river valleys and the back drop of majestic Mounts Peter and Paul provide the ideal setting for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy their game. It's a cow pasture. Sand traps hard as a rock and unkempt around the edges. Becoming very developed with many houses and roads in close proximity along many of the holes, and more extensive development is planned. Rude signs about golfers from the seemingly entitled residents. Many blind shots. There are some very nice courses in Kamloops that offer better value for the money.

Super sad to see this place go down hill.... the course is just not what it used to be... though the greens are still in great shape but everywhere else they really need to step up their game. I thought the restaurant was nice though a little more of a steak house feel then a club house.

The community concert band with which I play visited Kamloops and played a joint concert with the local concert band. They arranged breakfast at this club. I suspect that they are not ordinarily open for breakfast, but I can't believe that any place that can put out food like this can't do it for the rest of the day. The view is spectacular, the ambiance great, the waitstaff competent and hard working, and the assortment at the buffet was staggering, and constantly renewed. If the lunches and dinners are similar, I'd eat there a lot.

The Big Horn was closed for several months between 2017 and 18 while the new owners, Sun Rivers residents and supporting golfers, made the renovations. Prior to new management the restaurant had considerable difficulty maintaining a chef. Reading the recent evaluations I suspect current management may have inherited the staffing problem.
Having said that, I am surprised the dissatisfaction has been allowed to remain. When management lacks restaurant and cooking experience, the challenge for success is huge.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The course is horribly mismanaged. the customer service is slow and unprofessional. The carts don’t work properly. Management is clueless as how to run the place. Anyone looking for good golf and or food should just avoid this place all together

The three of us went for lunch because of a birthday. First, the menu is so limited and didn't have good choices. The manager explained the specials for the day and we opted for the Pork Schnitzel Burger and Meatloaf. The meatloaf was actually good but on the salty side. The burger was just ok...the lettuce was folded to make the burger look bigger. We told the server that it was my friend's birthday and if they have a treat for her and showed us the dessert menu. The server highly recommended the bread pudding and walked away to serve others but after waiting for 10 mins finally she came back and apologized for the wait. The bread pudding was good. However, it was not free (in other restos they have free dessert and when I asked the server if they have a treat for the celebrant and said yes, we understood it to be free). Overall, the dining experience is just ok (our server was great), the food was just ok and the choices in the menu I was not crazy about and hopefully at least give free dessert for the celebrant.

I've been to Bighorn a number of times since they opened their doors a few months ago. I know they may have experienced some growing pains but the last few times I have been very pleased with the service and quality of the food. The lunch special was delicious and arrived promptly. I'm happy with the progress and I will be going back again soon I'm sure.

Worst night out in a long time! Ordered the signature wings and Brie as an appetizer unfortunately they didn’t come till our entrees. The wings we undercooked and fatty very unappealing, the Brie was mediocre at best. I had the smoked and salmon it was dry and crumpled at the insert of my fork with a little rice and carrots definitely not worth the $20 my girlfriend had the braised short rib with gnocchi the rib was tough and I felt horrible watching her try to get through it. Our server Sarah was slow and sloppy and although there’s been a lot of work done to improve the atmosphere it doesn’t make a difference when things aren’t kept clean dirty cutlery dirty floors dust everywhere not a good experience in any aspect will not be wasting my time or money again, Won’t be gracing their door with my precence every again
