Good hiking during this time of the year .Saw a deer on one of the ski runs . Always something going on from concerts for the family to bungy trampoline for the kids. Not that crazy but busy at different times of the day.

Whistler it is not! Sun Peaks is closer though, only about 45 minutes from Kamloops. I can't see Sun Peaks becoming a more international destination unless the roads are improved, among other things. It needs a bigger and safer route to get in and out...More

We visited this resort area in the middle of summer, so there was no skiing involved. There are lots of other activities, however. We took a passive role with our ride up the chairlift being the most strenuous of our activity. This trip up the...More

Just a add on to the one review stating only ski clouds got to ski top of mountain before it opened, ski clubs and Olympic training are allowed up early because they have the skills to ski the mountain in not so great conditions, therefore it is not safe to the rest of the public and would cost a fortune to rescue tourists from risky situations

The unsafe areas are out of bounds for a reason. It is very unsafe and dangerous. Some skiers do go to these areas but if they need help or get lost it costs a lot for search and rescue to find them and bring them down the... More

My son is driving around US in a camper van and keen to visit Sun Peaks for a weeks skiiing. How challenging is the drive from Kamloops to Sun Peaks? Does the vehicle need to have 4 wheel drive? Any other tips? Thanks in advance for any feedback from others who may have done this. Cheers. Louise

The road is paved and well-maintained through the winter. Four wheel drive is not necessary for the drive, but snow tires are a requirement on BC Highways. There aren't any RV hook ups at the resort.
