One of the most interesting and well presented museums that we have ever visited. Three floors with elevator, allow you an amazing overview of earlier life in Kamloops.
From fires to fly fishing, First native crafts & carving of a dug out canoe. One floor completely dedicated to children with hands-on exhibits, play areas & secret rooms. The receptionist was extremely pleasant and well informed. Admission is by donation & we highly recommend a visit, several times as some of the exhibits are often completely exchanged.

The curator does an amazing job of the exhibits, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Love the log cabin downstairs!

Excellent knowledgeable service. Staff made adjustments to accommodate our restricted availability due to our travel schedule. We were able to get all the information we needed in a very short time.

The museum is located downtown with very little parking. It has multi levels and is quite small. For a city of this size, I would expect to have a full size museum with a lot of information about the area, pioneers, industry and the province. I was very disappointed when I went in to discover parts were very well done and other sections were dingy and not interesting. Needs some serious work before I would go back.

We loved the museum, it has an amazing amount of information on the origins of the city and its people. Also has a whole floor dedicated to children, they have games and a personal museum to learn at their level

A great place to while away an hour. Donation suggested $5. You will learn about the region with well presented history and a special room for children to play and explore. you can even dress up in old time costumes. I especially liked the recreation of a fishing resort cabin. Also wildlife samples, first nations artifacts, gemstones and more. Location is very near Riverside Park where there are daily concerts in July and August from 7 to 8:30

We made this a stopping point for our day. The museum is small and we were told it was by donation but when we got there we were told it was $3 entrance fee, which is no big deal but the sign still said by donation. Perhaps we would have dropped in more.
We really enjoyed Benjamin Baltzly: Photographs & Journal of an Expedition Through British Columbia 1871. 'it was very interesting and the comparison photos from 1871 paired up with a now photo of the area were cool. We made our way down to the kids area and enjoyed doing the big magnetic puzzle not the wall. (Nice that there were no kids there to compete with) The top floor had some interesting exhibits especially for the fisher in your family.

For the travelling art and history lover, there are three important stops in downtown Kamloops: the Kamloops Art Gallery, the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre, and the Kamloops Museum and Archives. We stopped by for the first time this last visit, and are we glad we did. It's not huge, so you don't have to clear your calendar or take supplies to see it. The building is modern, but non-descript. But inside there's lots to see, and boy are the staff there friendly! For us, the highpoint was the exhibit on the history of skiing in Kamloops, and they had some amazing artifacts on display and great stories to tell. Remember Nancy Greene, Olympic ski champion? Although she's not from here, she's part of Kamloops history now, so there's lots to learn. Who knew Kamloops was such a cultural hot spot, well worth a stopover to explore!
