Lots of changes since last year and none for the better.
Living in neighborhood we were used to stopping in for tastings and Happy hour.
Tastings were free but we usually purchased a bottle (or two) to take home. (Liked their Cipes Brut and Alive series wines)
Stopped by today and found the following:
Tastings now $10.00 with refund if bottle purchased.
No more Happy Hours. Resturant is order at counter and take eat food in resturant or take out. Entrees ranged in price from $25.00 and up. Overall, the ambiance was lacking and while wine hosts seemed pleasant, it's just too many bad changes.
Disappointing as this was a fun place to stop by and have some nice food and organic wine.

We went to Summerhill Pyramid Winery where we visited last year in the hope of another great lunch, only to be disappointed. Their approach has changed, no "table service" as I have known here. Instead you order at the counter from a limited menu, get your own water, but the wine is delivered, not salt or pepper, asked fot but nothing delivered. We talked to someone in the wine purchase area, found that policies have changed. For the worst as I see it.

This winery is known for its sparkling wines. This becomes blatantly obvious when the taster learns that there brut sparkling wine has won Canada’s best sparkling wine category 30 years in a row now! (although I don’t know which organization awarded the award :-)
Regardless of accolade semantics, we had a simply amazing wine tasting here on a somewhat overcast Saturday afternoon. The gal pouring our wine was very knowledgeable, and frankly a pleasant, and excellent representative of this winery. Although known for their sparkling wines, I find they have some really great tasting red wines. My favorites being the ketter, and toadstool Syrah.
You get the opportunity to to enjoy one of their award-winning ice wines as well at the end of your tasting. As I’m sure you’re aware, these delightful specialty wines are not cheap, so this is a nice added touch. If you’re going there with someone else, why not try a different one each and share?
In our case, we were able to compare between vintages of 2012, and 2016 of their Merlot, small series or lot ice wine. Just look at the pictures… Look at that color. It tastes as good as it looks.
This winery has an amazing restaurant as well, and they offer takeout meals, including frozen meals for you to prepare at home, paired with your favorite Summerhill wine. Although we haven’t tried them, yet, we will. And if you know anything about this winery, every focus , or every pursuit of this winery is rooted in sustainability, and organic, sourcing and production. I’m sure the taste of the food that you take home will reflect this mission, or set of values. We’ll let you know.

Lovely winery to visit. It was very busy. We counted 4 tour buses as we were leaving. Parking was ample. We decided to have refreshments on their patio. It is a great sport for romantic moments. We also noted they had an area the patio looked over for weddings.

This was the wine tasting that we enjoyed the least. There is no tasting fee but we did not care for any of the wines. The server was taking care of our table as well as another table and did not really take time to give us much of an explanation on any of the wines. She was just rushing us through.
We would not serve some of the wines that they were serving, they were that bad and also pricey for the quality.
This is a definite miss.

It's a beautiful location with a great view. I was however not a fan of the wines I tried. I believe they offer free tasting.

We had in incredible experience tasting plenty of delicious wines at this winery. The service was outstanding, the wines incredibly original and tasty. There is literally something for everyone! They have organic and biodynamic wines. The view is gorgeous and offers a great photo spot! They shipped our order to us and the whole process was smooth and an experience we would highly recommend!

From our 13 wineries toured this was the smallest taste samples. Went for dinner on site at their organic Bistro, which had a limited menu. Got our drinks and appetizer fine but 40 mins later our mains came cold and dried out. No explanation as to what happened. Waitress went to manager to have the mains removed from our bill as we weren't sticking around for a redo. He didn't come by to explain or offer an apology. We still paid for drinks and appetizer. Would never go back although the view was nice but there are other wineries along the lakes in Kelowna BC to enjoy.

We came as a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. Our taster was Alexa, super fun and let us sample many many wines. She was seriously the best! I have done a wine trip to spain and Alexa blew us away with her knowledge of the wine and how fun she was. The kids could play mini golf and go in the pyramid. The wine is excellent. I cannot wait to come back!

I appreciated the wine tasting. They have a decent mix and I liked some and did not like others. The people I was with liked the ones I thought were too sweet.
The view is great. Since it can be a free experience, that ranks high with me.
The pyramid is not much other than a neat thing to look at for a few minutes.
Give it a try.

Is there an outdoor area to eat that our dog can be near us? Or outdoor wine tasting?
Thanks

Yes! Summerhill allows dogs, we actually had our dog arrive after the ceremony for some photos. He just wasn't allowed inside the winery. In the summer they have an outdoor tasting bar and a food truck!

Can we just stop in and explore the grounds and do a tasting, without booking a tour? We plan to arrive around 1pm but there isn't a tour until 2pm (and we have lunch reservations at 2:30pm elsewhere so can't stay). Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. You are welcome anytime. The grounds are open to explore and the tasting bar welcomes walk-in tastings from 9 am - 7 pm everyday.

Hello, planning a visit to your winery in early July and would like to know if you have a bed and breakfast on site as well. Also, do you by any chance allow children (10 & 8 ) to do the tour?

Hello Colleen,
We do not have a B&B but friends of ours own and operate A Touch of English B&B, which you can find on the web (we are not allowed to post URLs in these replies) This is in downtown Kelowna and we consistently hear very good reviews.
We do absolutely welcome children on tours.
Yours,
Ezra Cipes
