This lovely waterfront park is adjacent to the downtown Marina. It is a beautiful place for a leisurely stroll or activities such as swimming, sunbathing, watersports, beach volleyball etc. We also saw an inflated floating playground on the lake for the kids. The park offers a wonderful view of Okanagan Lake. There are a number of restaurants offering a wide choice of cuisines within walking distance. All in all, a great place to spend an afternoon or evening or the entire day.

This was our first visit to Kelowna and the Okanogan. We wanted to spend an afternoon on the lake's beach and chose City Park. Parking was not too hard to find in the lot. If was a semi-short walk to the beach on grass and through lots of big trees. Nice change room/restroom. Trees to provide some shade if needed. We enjoyed watching parasailors soaring above the water, lots of boaters, and a few others like us enjoying the sand and water. A very relaxing afternoon. The only negative was some rather sketchy looking people in the parking area, especially two guys in a car who we believe may have been dealing drugs.

This was our first beach experience in Kelowna and it was great! Beach was a bit far from the paid parking lots (park/field in between). There are washroom and changeroom facilities here. We managed to snag a shady spot on the beach so didn't need our umbrella. The sand is hot! In the water there are lots of sharp jagged rocks and my 6 year old cut the bottom of his foot one one - thankfully it didn't bleed to much.

This beach is a great location - close to waterfront and boardwalk that you can walk to. Or if you just feel like staying on the beach there was a volleyball net setup.

Family enjoyed our time here.

This park used to nice now it's filled with druggies, street people and beggars. It is filled with grime and grunge. Used to be a good family place , now it's scary. And yet I never see the RCMP there patrolling? They should have a couple officers there full time kicking the drugged out bums and letting families enjoy their Park.

City Park is a great place for families. A few notes and info I couldn't find elsewhere:

Water playground is great - kids spent HOURS on it. I would say it is best for kids 6-??....not great for little tykes but great for everyone else (yes even adults!). Cost is $25 for all day, $20 one time use (if you swim into shore you are done), or $15 after 5:30

I couldn't find this info anywhere so hope it helps: Hours of playground is 10am-8pm

Lifejacket are provided and mandatory (can bring your own)

Splash park is about 200m from beach and water playground.

Food trucks were parked by the water playground/splash park which is handy.

Water playground and food trucks all took visa & debit.

A bit of a walk to the washroom if you are on this side of the park but you are close to parking!

Close to all downtown services, nice walk around the park, lots of beach and grass space.

Parking lot off Abbott fills up- we were there at 10am and there were lots of spots, full by 11:20am.

As read on other reviews....there are "undesirable" social issues present, seems to be more in the afternoon and closer to the Ogopogo (so?) statue....right by water playground seems ok. We have had more problems other times we have visited and honestly I was worried about bringing my kids here again but this visit seemed better (again we stationed ourselves for the day near the water playground which is on the highway 97/Harvey Ave side of the park). Much better here as last time there were a few scenes that I found myself explaining to young children.......wasn't fun.

Parking is $1/hr or $5/ day max.
Hope this helps - enjoy your trip- honestly a great park!!

This should be the jewel on the lake however the nimblest and all the attached issues wrecks it. We used to walk through here in the mornings we feel too uneasy. Never threatened but uneasy. Time for city council to clean it up what with the news tourist centre , washrooms and surrounding hi rises to be built

Our favourite thing is to hang by the beach, play a little beach volleyball, then walk to Bernard for ice cream. It is the hub of summer in Kelowna.

After a day of traveling we decided to take our 5 year old to City Park for some park fun. She really enjoyed it. The surrounding area are pretty great and the park itself is very clean and well kept. It seemed like everyone in the Leo was having a great time. There’s a water park, swings, slides and mini zip Line thingy and for the kiddies, a skate park for those who enjoy boarding in a cool environment, and of course a very beautiful boardwalk that separates the lake from the park. A very close walking distance to vibrant spots in town. Recommended!!

We'd eaten a huge meal and decided to go down to the waterfront.
Would recommend if you are looking for somewhere peaceful.

Feeling a little homesick, it reminded me of the waterfronts from my home town in Western Australia.

The park was quiet, peaceful and had a plethora of food options close by.
Parking was a little bit on the expensive side. However, understandable given how popular this destination would be.
