I had no plans going to this place. But my wife said the kids would like it. I’m glad I listened to her.
The kids had such a fun time interacting with the animals and seeing them up close. They were scare to feed popcorn to the kangaroo so they watched me feed them instead.
They also have a nice area for a picnic, we ordered food from there and was yummy. Great way to spend a few hours.
We paid admission in cash, as there is a fee to pay with credit cards.

Nice acreage with a variety from the wild kingdom. Says it’s dog friendly but really isn’t so much. Dogs cannot go into any of the enclosures and that’s where all the animals are so if you bring your dog then you need to carry them. I would not opt to bring my dogs back as I wasn’t able to interact or do anything with the animals.

Hi,
I'm sorry if you misinterpreted the information on the website and were under the impression that all dogs were allowed into the animal enclosures. This is not possible for obvious reasons. Only dogs which are small enough to be carried in their owner's arms are allowed into the animal enclosures. This isn't just about the welfare of our animals, but of the dogs too. A loose dog would be attacked by the capybara, the porcupine, and the emu.
We suggest an alternative on the website (assuming you are unable to leave your dog at home) and that's to take your dogs literally next door to the professional kennel for a romp and a play-date with other dogs.
Most people are pleased that they can bring their dogs into the park at all. We make this unusual concession expressly to stop people from leaving their dogs in the car on hot days.

Great place to spend the morning with the family and worth the trip if you're in the Okanagan. There's more than just kangaroos but also turkeys, peacocks, wallabies, sugar gliders, geckos, rabbits, porcupines and more! The farm is clean and very organized. Lots to see but really the kids could have spent all day with the "fire truck".

My kids ages 16, 14, and 11 had a great visit at Kangaroo Creek Farm. My oldest has an obsession with capybaras so that was all she wanted to see and she wasn’t disappointed. I was surprised at how much my older kids enjoyed this, they loved petting the animals, holding snakes and feeding the kangaroos. The staff were very professional helpful and knowledgeable about the animals and answered questions to further fuel my daughter’s capybara obsession. Keep an open mind if your kids are older, I had just floated the idea to my kids and they were so excited to go!

I have been to a few petting zoos before but never any that had kangaroos. It was a really cool experience especially for my kids to be able to pet and feed the kangaroos. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area, especially if they're traveling with kids

A very unique place to visit. My kids ages 8-14 all really enjoyed it. 30 plus kangaroos in an enclosed grassy areas with many opportunities to pet them and feed them with the bag of popcorn each family is given . Also a smaller area with capybara and turkeys roaming around. Opportunity to hold a sugar glider and pose with small parrot for a photo. Another area has goats

My son and I had the pleasure of checking out this gem of a place on our visit to Kelowna Sept 20/21. We were both so excited to see the kangaroos up close and personal but they also had other animals that were great to see as well. A great price for a couple of hours of fun. The staff were informative and mostly welcoming.

What a wonderful visit ! ! !
I really thought being "up close" would be a handler holding a kangaroo, and being able to go up to it and give it a "quick pet". NOT AT ALL ! It is an entire area where these docile animals are content to let you approach and spend all the time you wish with each, even feeding them some leaves (provided free).
One might also believe such an area would be "filty" with droppings; far from it. The staff keeps it so very clean.
Speaking of the staff, from the first person greeting us at the gate, to each and every handler and staff member, each obviously LOVES animals and equally enjoys sharing their knowledge with visitors. Each was SO friendly.
I'll add also the price is, in my opinion, unbelievably reasonable. OK, I'll say it... it is CHEAP for the experience received. I would have expected to pay triple what I did. Even those with children will find the children's prices affordable.
If you follow the very few and most reasonable rules around these animals (don't pet the ones you are told not too, approach gently, no sudden movements) you too can have a wonderful experience.
Thank you SO MUCH.

Does the farm have covered areas so that we can still visit if the weather is bad?

What do you do with the kangaroos as they get older?...or at the end of the tourist season?

We asked about the winter and the farm has large heated barns but the kangaroos have in/out access and can often be found playing in the snow.
Is there seating for people with disabilities? I am not a robot.

Yes, there were many benches for persons with disabilities. There is also shade. I do not think you would find it difficult at all. Handicap Parking isn't a problem either.

How much time should we plan for the visit? How long does it take to walk through the farm and see the animals?

I would say 90 minutes but you could spend less than an hour if you were in a hurry.

Thank you for reply, but I might not asked clearly - my interest is when the kangaroos are born and when I can enjoy the babies on my lap, feeding with bottle? ..., June or July? Thanks!

Oh, sorry about that, I misunderstood. We have joeys available for the public to hold most of the time. At present we have 6 joeys and several more that are about to emerge from the pouch. We will certainly have joeys through the summer season that can be held in visitors laps. We no longer allow visitors to feed the joeys from a bottle. This is now done only by staff.

When it is best time to come to see, cradle and feed baby kangaroos, please? I'd love to have such an experience. Thank you!

That's a great question! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell our guests that some times are better to visit than others. Try to visit off-peak days and hours. Our peak season is in July and August. It's always VERY busy, especially on the weekends and especially on holidays. Your best bet, for a relaxed visit is to come during the week outside of July and August. If you must come during peak season, try and get here at opening time. In July and August that's 9 a.m. We even let adults in for half price for that first hour of the day. As the day goes on, it just gets busier and busier. An alternative to coming first thing in July and August is to come during the evening. That runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is also much more relaxed and cooler too. We will also have the Okanagan Reptile Refuge in to give a presentation that is free to our visitors in the evening.

I would like to know if this is one of the attractions that trip advisor will no longer have on its site since announcing they will no longer sell tickets to animal attractions that promote animal cruelty.

I would hope not, as this farm/sanctuary has limited hours and a limited season specifically so the animals are not overburdened with human interaction.I visited there 2 weeks ago and thought it was a very well run place. It's not even close to being in the category of a circus or large aquarium. Just my thoughts...

Are you allowed to feeg the animals?
Do you sell snack packs for feeding the animals or should a person bring their own, if so what should you bring.

The staff walk around with buckets of food and give it to you, free, to feed the animals.
Do you know where to buy sugar gliders?
car0greg
Kelowna, Canada6 contributions
Sorry, I cannot recommend any particular source and do not know of anyone selling gliders at this time. Please do your research carefully before buying a glider and make sure that the person you are buying from is responsible and knowledgeable.
Do you practice ethical ways of caring for these animals? I know when visiting Thailand friends of mine discovered that the Tigers they could pet and cuddle with were doped on opium - please tell me this, or anything like this, is not the case here?

No, we don't drug our animals unless it's a therapeutic drug of some kind (antibiotics if they are ill for instance.) Plus it's not really legal for anyone to just go around administering restricted drugs to anything, human or animal, unless they are a professional, with a license. People have commented on how relaxed our animals are. But they are just that....relaxed.
