About
Our winery is located in south east Kelowna and on our estate we grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. About 80% of our 15 acres of vines is comprised of pinot noir including several different clones. This combination of plantings enables Winemaker Grant Stanley to select from the different characteristics exhibited by these clones in order to create a harmonious, complex Pinot Noir from our home vineyard. We also draw from a number of other vineyards in the Okanagan including Golden Retreat in Summerland and Coyote Vineyard in West Kelowna. Our focus is on premium quality wine which we produce from grapes grown on our estate vineyard and from selected Okanagan Valley vineyards. SpearHead is proud to have been recognized as #7 in the Top 10 Small Wineries and #16 in the Top 25 Wineries in Canada at the 2019 National Wine Awards.

Stopped at Spearhead as part of a tour. The tasting itself was fine, the wines good - learned that I can like Rieslings but was not as keen on their pinot noirs. The server was helpful and pleasant. Felt a little rushed but overall a good experience.

What a fantastic experience here. Definitely our favorite winery of the trip! Cal was helping us with our tasting, and he was such a great and passionate young guy! We learned so much from him, and really felt like we left understanding the way that the grapes change the taste of each wine based on so many different factors, like where they are grown. It was a very personalized experience, and we felt like Cal was not just spouting off facts. His passion was evident and he answered all of our questions expertly. We found it so interesting that we could try 3 different Pinot's and have each of them taste so vastly different.
They have a beautiful outdoor patio setup with mist to cool you off, and a small food menu too. We were able to bring our little 15 month old with us to sit on the patio for our tasting with no problem either.

We just went to SpearHead winery and we were very disappointed.
The service was ok, although the server could not talk wine. Most importantly, the wine was very average. The pinot noir were thick and the chards ok but lost their complexities.
The quality don't justify the prices anymore, just my two cents.
Cheers

Wine touring before summer traffic. We did not book ahead for a tasting, and had no problem getting a tasting of their wines. First time visit there. They do charge a $10 tasting fee for I believe 4/5 wines. Had wonderful service, and did buy their Pinot Gris.

I got the feeling you’re supposed to book tastings here ahead of time…not sure…however, we were not welcomed warmly like all the other wineries we visited in the area. When we left she said to go to the View as they take walk ups. Great advice. Had an excellent experience there. Will not visit next time I’m in Kelowna.

Nice outdoor tasting - the pinots are as good as they get in Okanagan Valley. Well worth the tasting.

I'm glad you enjoyed the outdoor seated tasting and the Pinot. They are good aren't they?! Hope to see you next year.

My husband and I had a great time enjoying their portfolio of wines. Beautiful pinot noirs and the chardonnay was a favourite. The patio is a lovely setting amongst their vines. Their cover precautions were great. We felt safe. All of the staff wore masks (except for one male staff member?). We will definitely recommend to others who are pinot fans! Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed the Pinots!! The Chardonnay is my favorite too! (But don't tell the other wines... don't want them thinking we have a favorite child). Really glad to hear you felt comfortable during your visit, this has been an interesting year to navigate. I appreciate your comment on the 'one staff member' - we have addressed this. Thanks for the recommendation, and do hope we get the chance to host you again in the future.

Best Pinot Noir we’ve ever had! It deserves all the awards. The tasting is great, you get to experience great wines. And if you’re lucky, you’re in for a surprise musical performance by the young and talented Josh (apologizes if I didn’t get the name right) playing acoustic guitar. It compliments the tasting experience so well. Great job! I’d highly recommend this winery.

Thank you for the great compliment on the Pinot Noir! Its made with a whole lot of love :) I imagine you timed a visit for one of our famous 'Foodie Fridays' - so glad we were still able to host them this year! Hope to see you again in the future.

This is THE place to come if you love pinot noir. If you are looking for bells and whistles, huge buildings and modern art all over the place while you tour wineries with your stagette group, this is not that experience. If you are looking for great wine, a personal tasting experience hosted by knowledgeable staff who can tell you about the terroir of each wine, taking place on a beautiful patio overlooking their estate vineyard, this is your spot. The wine is award-winning and the $10 tasting fee is waived with the purchase of two bottles. There is a pinot for every palette and you shouldn't have trouble finding two (or more) you want to take home. Definitely worth a stop.

Thank you for the recommendation for all those pinot lovers out there. Out of the thirteen wines we released this year, nine of them were based on pinot noir. Just goes to show you how much we love that grape, not to mention Grant is an amazing winemaker. Hope to see you again in the future!

Sorry to hear you feel you didn't get the bang for your buck. We did increase our fees this summer as there were a lot more logistics and the added private table and table side education was meant to elevate the experience. Not sure what the fee will be in 2021, but hope we get the chance to welcome you back.
