It is our 2nd time there. It was only due to friends' request as they have rainiar ready. This farm does U-pick only. Every time, we have been limited to only 2-3 rows of trees. Depending on the time you go, there could be very limited cherries left in those rows. The cherries are significantly damaged by rain this year. They are still on the trees but 80% of them have cracks. It becomes very challenging to find the undamaged ones and we are limited to those 3 rows. Going up and down using ladders is a must. After picking, they weight and pack into their own box professionally. $1 for each box. All procedures are very commercialized. The enjoyment feeling of going to a farm and picking up fresh fruits is not there at all. $5/lb for rainier + your own labour = once is enough

We went for rainer cherries as it says on their website and calendar that they are already and still available, but there were none. Waste of time. Also said 3 variety available, but there was only two. Deceived.
Samples were so limited: 1 cherry per person.
Nothing so special in Kempfs. They are the same as the other cherry u-pick. Maybe some others are better.
And contratry to what it says on their website about lots of shade to have picnic with, THeRE WAS NONE! Good thing we cancelled our picnic plan and decided to just eat first before heading there.
We went back(2nd time) to lakeside u-pick (close to summerhill winery). Just one variety of cheeries. Trees were tall enough to give you shade while picking. The owner was so nice and accomodating. I recommend LAkeside U-PIck

This was my first U-pick experience and my first time seeing cherry trees up close. Two friends and I picked 5.5 pounds of two different kinds of cherries, plus took a walk around the orchard and took pictures in about 20 minutes. The cherries are all so close together it doesn't take long. On their website they say to wear "proper footwear" but I think any kind of footwear (other than high heels) would be fine. You have to sign a waiver to use one of their ladders, but I only saw one family who did so. Many cherries are within easy reach. Also, there were a lot of people picking, but it was easy to find a free branch. I would recommend going early to beat the rush (and the heat). The cherries were delicious! I think their 5lb minimum is fair. As a heads up, it's cash only. Also, bring your own bags/containers as you have to buy boxes if you don't. Really fun, unique experience.

Fun experience for the whole family. The staff is is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Great price for the cherries. Your not limited to a few trees like others orchards. There plenty of trees to pick from. Ladders are available to reach the high one in the tress. This orchard carries two types of cherries red and yellow.

I almost don't want to write a review because I don't want everyone going here. 😄 but this place is a true gem. The best cherries I've ever had. Easy to pick and excellent prices and service.

Kempf Orchards is a short and pleasant 30 minute drive from Downtown Kelowna. The orchards were easy to find and there is a lot of parking. I really liked how they set out cleaned samples of the cherries that are currently available so that you can taste and decide which cherries you would like to pick. We found the Rainer cherries ($4/lb) to be the tastiest when we visited today (the other type I remember sampling were the Stellars (approx. $2.50/lb), which were a bit more tart, but still delicious). Note that there is a 5lb minimum per couple of pickers. I was there with hubby, 2 toddlers and my parents and since it was just hubby and I picking, they only requested us pick at least 5lb.
The employees were friendly and helpful and there were a LOT of trees to pick from! The only (small) improvements would be that they could accept credit/debit for payment and perhaps if they could have ladders available as some of the juiciest cherries were a little high up.
We only stayed about a half-hour due to the hot weather and being with young children. I think we'll stop here again before we drive home! Delicious cherries at a very good price!

Very helpful and friendly staff making this a wonderful experience of picking your own cherries. With two varieties to choose from there is an abundance of large juicy fruit available at a good price. Very popular place during the season.

I had never been to a u-pick before and the quality of cherries here were excellent. I would recommend this as an activity once for everyone to try but the cost per lb. of cherries seemed outrageous compared to what was being charged at the stores/fruit stands for Canadian fruit.

Nice spot in Kelowna was only about a 10 minute drive from our hotel. The kids had fun picking some fresh cherries great way to let the kids fill up a bucket of cherries for you to enjoy.
