As the name implies, Mission Creek is the centerpiece of this park with the ability to walk along its banks from near the mouth up into Gallagher's Canyon and beyond if one is daring. And while the possibility of running into bears and other wildlife is slim nearer to the lake, once you trek upstream from the main parking lot on Springfield Rd., be very bear aware as it is not uncommon to run into these omnivores. And while it is generally a non-issue, as Spring comes into full force it is possible to meet a mama bear and cubs; stay clear as much as possible.

Back to the park. Features other than the Creek include:
1) a wheel chair accessible playground structure
2) a children's fishing pond
3) an Eco-centre
4) a covered picnic area
5) two pedestrian bridges that cross the creek... also numerous road bridges cross downstream and one crossing upstream. After Hollywood Rd S, there are no more crossings.

A pleasant amble, anytime of the year.

Note: my sons like to river surf during Spring runoff. Not only is this dangerous and can lead to death it is also illegal. But try telling that to young men who have not fully developed their prefrontal cortex.

4 stars.

We were staying at El Dorado hotel and this walk is about 5 minutes away. Can’t believe it’s not advertised more. If you like nature this a beautiful walk along the river on a pretty flat terrain. We walked to Mission Creek Park where we saw turtles which was an unexpected bonus! We saw so much wildlife including a bald eagle which was the highlight for us. If we’d had more time in Kelowna we would have hired bikes and discovered more of this beautiful trail. Our total walk was about 15km but it wasn’t taxing and would highly recommend if you love nature.

On our first day visiting Kelowna I took a solo walk down a part of the Mission Creek walk I hadn’t visited before. But...like anything in life you have to pick your spots! Do NOT start your hike late morning just as the heat settles. Very few people on trail, no birds singing and my shirt was drenched with sweat after an hour. I’ve done this walk early in the morning and it was gorgeous. Lots of people walking dogs, cycling etc. Only mad dogs and Englishman were out in the mid-day sun. Do it early morning....you’ll love it!

While searching for a five-part adventure lab cache located in this park, we also discovered other interesting features. As we followed the trails and pathways, we walked along a marsh and grooves of huge, mature trees. We heard birds and insects and saw many memorial benches as well as picnic tables. There was also a playground with slides and swings and a dog park with areas for small and large breeds. Dogs are allowed on leash in most areas of the park. A fitness centre, hockey rink, softball field and Library (a real one with books!) are also part of the park. Restrooms, a restaurant and lots of visitor parking are available. We also viewed the Michaelbrook community garden.

We hike this pathways system regularly, ranging from easy 45 minute walks to more challenging hikes in different sections. The scenery is lovely year-round, and we particularly like the fall when we can watch the salmon on their way to spawn.
We were last out last week, enjoying the fine spring weather. Perhaps we'll see you there the next time.

Well maintained gravel trail full of runners, walkers and cyclists. There were good information signs in terms of directions and useful wildlife facts, along with some fun ones addressing dogs etc. The views of the river were quite nice, with the odd gap in the trees where you could see stunning farmland and hills in the distance, although overall nothing too spectacular. Towards the end of the walk were a couple of golf clubs, warning that you walk at your own risk.

I visited Mission Creek primarily to gold pan which is entirely legal if you only use a spade and a gold pan (no heavy equipment etc.) As this was so close to our families house and seeing as they'd never heard about the possibility of finding gold here I was skeptical; I associate gold bearing rivers with more remote locations in the middle of nowhere! Alas, I bought a small gold pan for $10CAD from a local shop (Fred's shop) and within my first pan I found gold flakes! I spent 2 days of my trip here panning and it was awesome fun, even though the river was thawing and it was absolutely freezing. We would've spent more time if given the opportunity. Other than the gold panning aspect, it was an amazing park, with facilities located along the stretch of river, a bike park that was very well maintained (i.e. not randomly built and unregulated) and nice paths to run/cycle/walk-dogs on. Apparently there are bears around so beware. Overall I would definitely spend a day or 2 here if visiting Kelowna, especially with family.

We had a great day here just walking along the pathways, Others walking were very friendly, and the path was in great shape. It was worth going to check out.

I was thrilled to see salmon spawning , and jumping the rapids in the creek. Went on a lovely hike with the dog.

I love walking the paths at this park. My dogs love it too. Either cross the bridge and head up the hill to the Turtle Pond, or walk the paths through the tundra and trees, or stay on the gravel paths along the river. You can cycle the gravel paths, or walk them. It’s peaceful and great for a beautiful walk along the river. Watch the Salmon in the fall, or fish, deer, birds and other wildlife through out the year.
