I walked all the way around the island. It takes approximately 3 hours. I have packed a lunch and stopped at two different places to eat it. The view and the forest are very nice. The ferry is only $5 (both ways).

We love our trips to Newcastle! Fun water taxi and a moderately easy hike around the entire island with amazing views!

Most of the trails are bike-friendly. There are a few branches off the main trails where you'll want to either dismount or just put the bike away. But, generally, the island is OK for bikes.
