About
The SS Sicamous is the largest surviving paddle wheeler in Canada. It is open as a heritage site, museum and wedding venue. Launched in 1914, the ship provided a vital means of transport to remote communities on the shores of Okanagan Lake. The SS Sicamous is operated by the SS Sicamous Society: a non-profit organization that works to protect the marine heritage of the Okanagan.Funds from your admission go directly to the restoration of the SS Sicamous, and the other heritage ships in our care.

They have a model train and you can pay a small fee to see the train move around the model town. It's quite nice actually. When you go up, you can view the staterooms that were previously used. The kids enjoyed roaming around and exploring the ship. We spent about 45 minutes here.

Having visited many museums and such over the years this one is at the top of the pile. It’s very well laid out and provides great local history. The paddle wheeler is in great shape and clearly well taken care of. It’s totally worth the visit if this is your thing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

This one surprised me when I made it inside. The exterior is in pretty good condition and it’s definitely a fun place to visit when you’re in Penticton. The inside was an eye-opener and I would definitely say this is worth your time while you’re staying in town.

A good place to visit on a rainy day. Several levels with historic furnishings and lots of information plaques. I’m a big fan of guided tours but this wasn’t bad as a self guided experience.

Love history and this place is the real history itself! Lovely museum where you could actually explore and imaging a lifestyle people lived over a 100 years ago. Recommend to visit!

I had no idea this museum even existed til we were planning a quick trip to Salmon Arm and someone recommended stopping at the SS Sicamous on the way back. What a gorgeous museum! Truly a step back in time and lots of interesting facts about not only the ship and its role in transportation, but Penticton's overall history. We were unfortunately in a bit of a rush and missed a few things, so we'll definitely be back on our next swing through the Okanagan. A great way to find out a bit more about the area you're visiting - and a lovely respite from the sun. Well worth the (minimal) cost of admission.

What an interesting piece of history, real cool to see how people got around back in the day. Very well preserved, couldn't be much different than when it was in it's prime. Kind of wish I was around when it was in it's prime.

Leave the model railway till the end..... Orae the kids won't leave! Great use of the SS Sicamous, great self tour of all the decks and the wheelhouse. Tons of info- nice to see the Penticton Vees cabin as well as the Kings cabin. In the engine room the model train is impressive. A small donation and you can watch it traverse canyons and trestles. A good time to see some of the areas past. Well worth the time.

Surprising and welcome presentation of Okanagan (read Penticton) history in a real steamboat. A great experience for young and old alike.
