We spent a memorable 12 days aboard Thunder 1 while completing a forestry research project. Lovely boat, magnificent scenery and the best meals ever. Doug and Deb are consummate hosts. They were attentive and fun and their knowledge of all things north-coast BC was impressive. The entire trip was flawless.

Four well travelled friends from across Canada gathered for three nights, four days on Thunder 1.
We had comfortable accommodations on board, enjoyed every meal and experienced good fishing in incredible surroundings. Deb and Doug are a rare team, providing expert service and warm hospitality at every turn. Highly recommended by everyone in our group.

Deb & Doug looked after us like we were royalty. From the time we boarded the boat to the time we left all our needs were looked after. Deb put on meals that were second to none and looked after the bridge while Doug looked after the back of the boat while fishing. They both have incredible patience and a great sense of humor. Even while handling double headers when fishing lines were getting tangled with each other and in the down riggers they still managed to stay positive and laugh about it. My wife Jill and I went with another couple that are our friends and we all limited out on Coho & Halibut, that being said it would have been just as fun with half the limits. We saw Porpoise / Humpback Whales & Bald Eagles to name a few. This is the fourth time for me on this charter and would not hesitate to book again.

Fantastic 4 days on the Thunder 1. The boat did not feel crowded with two couples plus Deb and Captain Doug. We had great weather and hooked our limit of Coho. Plus we caught our limit of Halibut. Including one 65 lb halibut caught by my wife. The beautiful thing about the liveaboard trip is you spend way more fishing and way less time pounding it out and back to the fishing grounds. Doug and Deb know all the best spots around Rupert. No matter the weather they find a nice quiet place to anchor every night. Will go again if they will have us!!

The fishing experience with Thunder1 was first class. Doug and Deb are genuinely wonderful people. You feel welcome from the moment the trip starts right through until it ends. The meals are outstanding as is the fishing instruction, local knowledge and support throughout the trip. Staying on the boat amongst the quiet bays at night is special and takes relaxing to another level. Thunder 1 offers all of the comforts of home in a warm, cozy atmosphere.
It’s no wonder so many clients return many times over. Highly recommend this trip for great fishing, scenery and hosts that truly care about your experience.

We are returning customers and would give our trip and experience more stars if we could. The fishing was excellent, the meals were superb, the hosts made sure everything was first rate. It is a special experience to go out on a boat where you are able to not only fish but really see the sights and wildlife of the area when you anchor in such scenic spots for the evenings. Loved our time on the Thunder One and would highly recommend.

Great live aboard experience. Hosts know where the fish are and the meals are excellent. The crab dinner on the first night was definitely a highlight. If you want a live aboard experience with good people this is for you. We will be back.

Once again Doug and Deb gave us exceptional memories along with lots of fish, eagles, whales and grizzlies, incredible food, lots of laughter and great June weather (I'll take a little credit for that - inside joke). This is not our first trip and we keep coming back because of the total experience. Staying right on the boat means quick and early access to fishing and the serene coves in the evenings can't be compared to any other fishing experience. I highly recommend this all inclusive experience.

Doug and Deb provided a trip of a lifetime. With an initial meet and greet followed by a safety and boat orientation tour, we were off. The boat is immaculate and roomy. Sleeping, washroom and onboard shower with lots of hot water were well above any expectations.
The charm of the trip was our hosts. Doug is an excellent guide and first rate instructor. First time fishing in the ocean and the experience was fantastic. With a witty prose he brings you along for a great fishing experience. You always felt safe and secure as either Deb or Doug were operating the boat while the other taught us how to fish.
Deb provided wonderful meals presented at a high quality dining table. There was no roughing it on this trip! She spoiled us with the food and plenty of coffee.
Once you move beyond the quality of our hosts and the boat, there is time to take in the amazing scenery of the west coast. Too many eagles to count, seals and the show stopper, a continuous display of humpback whales bubble net fishing. It is a powerful image that will remain with me forever.
This is a quality trip that provides exceptional value. We are already working on a date for our next trip with Thunder 1. Thank you Doug and Deb for a most awesome experience.

We had the opportunity to travel with Deb and Doug on the Thunder1 out of Rupert. Little did we know the amount of sunscreen we would go through! We saw humpback whales “bubble feeding” and it could be one of the best most powerful things to watch. The fishing was fantastic and the scenery was spectacular. Nothing compared to how they welcomed us aboard their home and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun filled trip.
