About
Prince Rupert Adventure Tours will show you the most stunning and magnificent displays of wildlife in and around B.C.’s sheltered Northern Inside Passage. Our grizzly bear tours in the Khutzeymateen Valley provide an opportunity to see these legendary giants in their natural environment! Our goal is to provide you with a safe and unique wilderness experience, without altering the natural behaviour of these creatures. Join our whale watching tour later in the season to experience the greatest show on Earth! North Coast whale watching is acknowledged as one of the most accessible and predictable locations to see whales. You may encounter grey whales feeding around enormous kelp beds, humpback whales flashing their unique tails as they dive to feed, orca whales following the migrating salmon, or porpoises playfully gliding alongside the boat. Stellar sea lions, harbour seals, eagles, blue herons and sea otters may also make an appearance. Climb aboard for the adventure of a lifetime!

This was a wonderful opportunity to see grizzly bears from a boat. It was a modern, clean, sleek boat. It took a couple hours to get to the sanctuary. The crew on the boat were full of good information There was more than enough viewing space. The boat had a nice supply of binoculars to see the bears. I would say this is a must for anybody who makes it to Prince Rupert

This was an excellent 4 full hours filled with beautiful scenery and we had the most amazing 60-90 minutes of watching the whales with the captain doing an amazing job of finding and following the whales maximizing everyone’s view of this amazing sight.
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
Would definitely recommend anyone to do this tour.

This trip was an experience of a lifetime!! Absolutely stunning views of the North Coast landscape, knowledgeable and extremely friendly crew and best of all - all the wildlife!!!!
We had 6 different Grizzly Bear sightings, 2 groups of humpback whales, a family of orcas and a lot of eagles. One group of humpbacks was using a feeding technique called bubble net fishing - it was so interesting to watch. The other group had a least 6 of them. The male in the orca family had a dorsal fin that looked to be about 8 ft tall. All the Grizzlies were doing various activities including one that was napping in the long grass and he would occasionally pop his head up and look around - it was too cute!
The boat itself was extremely comfortable, easy to move around on. The lunch included was delicious - that day it was Greek wraps from a local restaurant. There was even a vegetarian option which I was very happy about.
The Captain got some amazing shots of the wildlife with his telescopic lens which he shared with everyone on board. We were very grateful for this as we only had cell phones so our pictures weren’t nearly as good as the ones he took.
Definitely a 10/10 experience!

Was very happy with our experience. The boat was large, clean, and smooth. I had taken something for motion sickness, but it was unnecessary. We had grizzly sightings in 2 different location, 5 bears in total, and had ample time to view them. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, and the sandwiches were fine. They made an attempt on the way back to spot whales, but no luck on that, but we did have an great moment with some bald eagles. We were also offered, free of charge, copies of the pictures the captain had taken that day of the grizzlies we saw. I have been on many tours in my life and NEVER has something been given like that for no change, very thankful and appreciative of that!! Very enjoyable day!

We were on a 7 hour grizzly bear catamaran tour with Adventure Tours today. Everything was excellent. During our cruise, we saw 3 different kinds of whales , bears, eagles and so much beautiful scenery. We learned a lot about the area. The boat is owner operated, very clean and spacious. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This tour is an absolute must-do when you are in Prince Rupert.

This was by far one of the best and most memorable tours we have ever taken! It well exceeded our expectations providing astonishing views of wildlife from a very close distance. We saw many grizzly bears, including a mama bear with 3 cubs and 2 bears fighting. We also got a close up view of whales and eagles. The boat and staff were wonderful. The large boat was very modern, comfortable, with several decks, indoor and outdoor seating and a lot of room for everyone to move around and take pictures. The bathrooms in the boat were also very clean. This tour was well worth the money spent and we greatly recommend it. You may want to bring a good quality camera with a zoom lens for the pictures, but if you do not have one, the captain also takes high quality photos, which he shares with passengers free of charge.

I am visiting Prince Rupert on the 20th and 21st of September. Will the day tour still take place then for the bears and how far in advance do I need to book/ how much per person in CAD? Is it a good trip to see Orcas also or would that be a different trip?

The Grizzly Bear boat tours only run mid-May through end-July. The Whale Watching boat tours run August and September. We saw Humpback Wales (a lot of them), Stellar Sea Lions and Harbour Seals - no Orcas. Not sure of 2020 prices - appears to be lots of room on tours at this time (I looked at the booking calendar) - go to Prince Rupert Adventure Tours for booking and fees.
Hello
I would like to go on the tour for the grizzly bears on the 14th of august 2020with my family (me and my wife and 3 boys :11-13 and 15 years old) ; would that be possible that day or are the grizzly tours only untill end of july ? waht would be the cost and how can i do a reservation ?

What 2 week period based on past years would give one the very best chance of seeing grizzlies. I know in Alberta that answer would be last week of may to 1st week of June. Did not know if you were similiar. I figure you track numbers so hopefully you could reply back on this... Thx

We enter the Khutzeymateen Inlet and quietly make our way along the seashore viewing the Grizzly Bears. We spend approx. 3 hours in the Inlet and then another 2 hours traveling back to Prince Rupert.
The cost is $290.00 for adults and $265.00 for children age 3-12 + taxes.
I hope you decide to join us.

Hi,
I'm interested in the grizzly boat tour but would like to see them close up (as possible as that is without intruding on their space), can anyone tell me if you get to see the bears ok from the boat or do you need binoculars to be able to see them?
Thanks in advance, any replies would be really helpful.
Jared Davis
Prince Rupert, Canada
Hello Mariannelouisemac
Thank you for your inquiry.
The Grizzly Bears come to the seashore in the early part of the summer (mid May - end of July) to dig for clams and mussels and to feed on the protein rich sedge grass.
The opportunity to see them up close is dependant on the tide and where they are located in the Inlet. We get as close as possible without disturbing them. We hope you decide to join us.
