My husband and I stopped here and did a 5 km hike around this park. Parking areas were easy to get in and out of. The hike was beautiful, so lush and green. Little more humid then we are used to. Easy to follow trails with markers. I think there is a campground however we never made it over that way.

I refer to the whole Park, not the Camping Ground. Would give 5* for place and views were it not for the farmer (with attitude!) who has fixed-it with the authorities so that dog-access is severely limited. So I no longer go there ("Good!" I can hear him saying) as the main reason for visiting a Park is to walk the dog. So here I am, financially supporting a Park which I can't use as I would like.
(Having said, he has good cause insofar as his flock of sheep, partic'ly in lambing-season, has been adversely impacted by out-of-control dogs owned by ignorant dog-owners, and he loses sheep regularly. My only residual concern is why his sheep aren't fenced-in so as to allow Park visitors to better enjoy the place. The sheep and his cows wander all over.)
I get the feeling that, given his druthers, he'd stop *all* tourists at the Park boundary.

We were pleased to find clean restrooms throughout the park and camp ground. The trails were well marked and catered to all fitness levels. The ocean views were stunning and we spotted sea lions , eagles and herons. This is a great placce to visit in the morning sunshine.

Ruckle Park is a stunning park as it is, but for families with young children, the Chris Hatfield trail, just on the edge of the park's boundary, makes for a purely magical walk in the woods. In dense woods, you will encounter fairy doorways, delicate rock sculptures, mossy logs that have been transformed into gentle beasts, and various shrines to fairies scattered about. To get here, turn off Beaver Point Road to Bulman, then turn right on Meyer and follow it to the end. The trail is clearly marked along the road. Enchanted forest!

Beautiful views (we saw not only ferries going by but were treated to 3 front row sightings of orca whale pods!)
We arrived on a Thursday night (not a long weekend) at 7pm and snagged the last available site - 34, which is fairly private (next to the host site behind the firewood trailer, nestled in amongst a few trees (perfect for setting up a couple hammocks or a tarp) with a view across the meadow to the ocean beyond. But I was itching for one of those waterfront meadow sites and sure enough, a number of them opened up Friday morning and we hastily ran down to the flat open vistas of site 33. (We were four adults with 3 smaller tents and were told that was fine for one site.) If you're after protection and waterfront privacy, the site just south of it (35?) offers both.

The ride was as hilly as they say, though more tiring was the fast moving/close passing ferry traffic whilst pedaling along very narrow gravel strewn shoulders. We came from Vancouver and including breaks and some pushing of loaded bikes up steeper hills, it took us about 3 hours to reach Ruckle. An easier option is the way we toured home: to Fulford Harbour Ferry (half the distance and grade of hills from camp) to Vancouver via Schwartz Bay. We really loved the weekend ride up to the Salt Spring Bread Co, the Cheese Co (we basically lived for 3 days on gourmet goats cheese and rustic loaves of the most delicious bread) and the quaint Kizmit Galleria and Cafe (purveyors of excellent coffee, baking and more) - all near Ruckle!

The campsite faces South East so you'll get sunrises rather than sunsets, though the coveted sites in the 70's get some of that evening glow for being farther south.
The pressurized water taps offer fresh sweet drinking water and the outhouses are well provisioned with hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Didn't get to try out the communal fire pit experience as it was during the fire ban.

We stopped at Ruckle Provincial Park and parked near the old farm buildings. There were plenty of sheep, wild turkey and chickens. We walked around the site enjoying the atmosphere and fresh air.
We found an easy trail down to Grandma's Beach. It was slippy because of the recent rain but the views were stupendous. The power of the water was evident. It was such an atmospheric place and if it had been drier we might have stayed longer.

Walked along here around sunset. Not a challenging walk at all. Some beautiful views of the water, birds, ferries passing by. Very relaxing. There are benches and picnic tables along the way, too.

Numerous picturize trails surrounded by towering trees along ocean vistas. Stunning views at every turn, picnic tables scattered along the trail provide ample space for romantic picnic lunches with mountain and ocean views..

Ruckle Provincial Park is one of Salt Spring Island's nicest spots. At the end of the road from Fulford, the park includes a historical farm (watch out for the turkeys and chickens!) and a natural forested area that opens onto Beaver Point with excellent views over to Pender Island and other Gulf islands.

It's an easy hike (10 minutes from the parking lot) on mostly flat surfaces.

We spent a morning wondering the trails and just relaxing on a bench overlooking the water. The weather was perfect which only added to the beautiful scenery.
