Went with a group of guys fishing for three days, Brin, Ryan and Matt were excellent guides and great hosts, very knowledgeable and accommodating, caught a ton of fish. Brin went out of his way to help us with transportation and assist with our salmon bbq/crab broil. Great group of guys/guides, highly recommended

Brin appears to be a decent guy, but there were some issues that were bit disquieting. I initially booked a charter for myself, son and grandson for a Monday morning. A very short while later I found out that my grandson would not be available for that day. I requested a change to the Sunday and Brin graciously accommodated this. When the time came for Brin to take the final balance on my credit card I learned that the charge was at least $200 more than I had expected even though I had already mentally calculated in the taxes. First, I learned that we were being charged more per hour because we had now been assigned to a "larger' boat. There was also a 3.5% fee for using a credit card and there was a fuel tax. I am not complaining about these charges per se. My displeasure is that none of this was disclosed at the time of booking. When I discussed the higher than expected charge with Brin I only expressed surprise. I did not quibble about the charges. Brin offered that we could do a 5 hour charter instead of a 6 hour charter as originally booked to reduce the overall cost. I took this option. Had he disclosed the charges initially I would have accepted them and made the 6 hour booking willingly. Later the evening before the planned morning departure I received a message from Brin indicating that since it was a reduced time we would start an hour later rather than getting out when catching is a higher likelihood at an earlier hour. During the charter it was noted by all of us that Brin was more interested in his satellite radio selections than he was in observing us and the rods. We also wasted considerable time dragging weeds despited repeated line retrievals and seeing what was happening. Eventually, he adjusted the depths to avoid this. At one point Brin bounced the cannonball along the bottom eventually getting hung up. Time was then spent rethreading the down rigger because there was a lot of broken line in the mechanism that had to be dug out. We caught one good sized Chinook and Coho. We also caught 1 rock fish. There were 3-4 lost fish on the retrievals. Brin only changed spots one time. On previous charters with other guides, we would change up locations several times to locate fish resulting in many more hits and landed fish. I do not want to trash Coastal Charters as this was a one off experience and maybe this was an unusual booking experience. I did, however, feel that it warranted being posted.

Went out fishing for a stag with Joe on May 20th 2020.
He was super helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We had a very successful trip with everyone maxing out on halibut and even 2 extra springs.
Would recommend to anyone wanting to get out for some fishing in Tofino.

Just finished a tour with Brin the owner that included crabbing, finishing, whale watching and wildlife. It was glorious, especially for February in Tofino. It was warm and sunny with hardly any wind. We cruised around Vargas island enjoying craft beers. Visited a secret fishing sport for a spell and trapped 6 dungeness. Brin is a chef so he showed us how to steam up fresh crab on a portable BBQ. Such a memorable and special day.

We had a wonderful day salmon fishing! Our guide, Brin, was excellent! He was knowledgeable and friendly. We caught the limit of cohoe salmon, with one over fifteen pounds! We spotted a pod of orcas and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We even caught loads of crab!

Amazing day fishing we went out with the family for the day. Graham was awesome and so great with our two kids! the salmon was a bit slow but we still managed to hook a few, the kids got to get some reel time in, the weather was nice so we went out for Hali and we nailed a couple nice ones!! Whole family had a blast!!! Highly recommend Coastal Charters.

Had a great time with captain Brin! He was very knowledgeable about the waters we were fishing and overall an amazing captain who cares so much about the health and safety of the crew. The fishing was a little slower that day so he took us crabbing for the last hour of the trip and we limited out on big Dungeness crab! I’ve lived on the coast my whole life and never seen that good crabbing before. Overall amazing trip and can’t wait to go out again!

I live on the west coast, but because I work nights at one of the resorts. I do not get out much. A chance came up to go out with a group from work. This was the first time that I went out fishing in about 7 or more years. We brought along 2 crab traps and strategically placed them. Then we went on a 30 minute ride to a place were they had been catching fish. We had not been trolling long before I caught my fish. For me, the size was not the concern. It was a fish. Others in the group caught fish. A couple were too small to keep. We then traveled back to the crab traps. One trap had a couple of keepers. The other trap was empty. Captain Brin then took us to watch an eagle show us how fishing is done. This was a wonderful trip, good company and lots of fun. I would recommend.
