Long Beach

Long Beach

About
Long Beach, the longest beach of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, spans an extraordinary 16km (10mi) along the west coast of Vancouver Island. Described by locals to be magical, you will be astonished by the amount of life that call the tidal pools home. You will be sure to find crabs, shells, starfish, sea urchins and much more. As the surf comes crashing in, you will find surfers from around the world carving through the peaks of the waves. As the water settles, it gracefully rides up the beach with peaceful trickles and shimmering light from the breathtaking sunset crossing the colourful horizon. Long Beach is truly a rejunivating getaway for all ages. Whether you're looking to kickback, explore, adventure, hike, surf, or just take one of those long walks on the beach, Long Beach has it all.

A Place to Breathe out all your Stress
this is a place where you can relax after a long term stress. you can breathe out all your stress pain and anxiety. Here, only you and the ocean before your eyes are real, Everything else doesn’t matter at all. It’s been a month since I have taken a break from my classes, works, and the only chance I have got, didn’t even think twice to have a long drive of 300km, just to visit this beach, and after a long, hectic journey I have made it here and it was worth it. Perfect place if you consider walking around, relaxing, surfing, sunbathing.

    Stunning beach
Before we left BC we decided to vacation in Tofino. A super cute town. Long Beach was cloudy the day we went. It made for a very surreal experience which was just as beautiful as it would have if it was sunny. The beach is extremely long so it’s amazing to walk on, and there is a bike trail that runs alongside it. Maybe next time we will be do the bike trail. The water was extremely cold, but I can see why it is amazing for surfboarders! Incredibly beautiful spot to be seen instead of just described!

Leave all your troubles behind, magical place
Long Beach is simply magical. We arrived early in the day when the sea mist was still swirling up the beach. It was truly awe inspiring. The beach, located between Ucluelet & Tofino, is about 10 miles of flat white sand. Loved by surfers, swimmers and walkers. We spent the whole morning there before heading to Tofino for a late lunch and then came back again to walk the beach once more.

    Moments of elation
I drove to Long Beach for a morning walk along the beach. There was less than a handful of people on the entire beach. I took off my sandals and walked in the water and along the clean beach. It was lightly raining, cold and windy, even with the weather, it was fantastic! For someone coming from a land lock area, I had moments of overwhelming joy and elation at this beach!

The two spectacular ocean
villages on Canada’ Wild West coast — Ucluelet & Tofino — share a number of great things.
Long Beach, which is certainly that at 10 miles, is one such shared wonder.
The beach’s official address is 2040 Pacific Rim Highway, an address locating it in the Pacific Rim Park, which runs between Ucluelet — affectionately known to locals as Ukee — & Tofino.
It is a favorite spot for residents of both ocean communities, which are 26 mile apart, non-identical twins with many similarities, & both face the powerful Pacific Ocean.
Long Beach also attracts visitors from outside of the region. These include a significant number of surfers, who come to join the locals on the waves. Surf is consistent & it can surely be described as perhaps the best surfing beach in Canada, & if not that, one of the best in this ocean stretch, a stretch which includes neigbouring & popular beaches — Cox, Chesterman, Mackenzie, Wick & Flo.
Long Beach is also perfect for long walks, of course, & many bring their dogs with them to traverse the sand, play @ the shore, & depending on temperature, a swim in the ocean.
Also good for sitting with family & friends or just gazing out at the awesome Pacific, watching those waves pound in from points afar.
Ah, to the other great things these two ocean village share. Both also have a wonderful selection of places to eat & drink at — with both punching above their weight on the culinary front, given both have relatively small resident population in the 2,000 range. The truly fabulous Tofino Ucluelet Culinary Guild (TUCG), a farm to table non-profit, offering a wide range of local produce is shared, as it has delivery points weekly in both villages. Another shared gem, is the inspiring Ucluelet Secondary School (USS) which has pupils from both. Pupils are bused in daily from Tofino to USS, which has opened this past year again after a fantastic rebuilt & is under the headship of the impressive Drew Ryan & staff. Many trans village friendships are formed.
Many good things shared & enjoyed together by these twinned wonders.

Long Beach in Tofino is a magical place, a true Canadian Treasure! You never know what the weather will be, but hopefully it's a clear day and you can see for miles. There is plenty of paid parking, and several clearly marked entrances to the beach, along with warning signs for the dangerous currents and rip tides. We first used access point number 4, but then drove a little way further down the beach where there are change rooms and washrooms. It's also here that there are beautiful small treed islands sitting on the beach, and at low tide you can actually walk all the way around them; that was pretty cool and a terrific photo opportunity too!

Long Beach is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world. It's cold here, though, so it's not a tropical beach! During low tide, you can walk and walk and walk. It's so gorgeous. I definitely recommend coming here! While I'm not a surfer, I saw many new surfers learning here, adorned in full-length body suits to tolerate the cooler temperatures. I really, really loved this beach!

Big, long beach, where you can either surf, take a stroll or lay down on. You need to buy a permit, cost depending on the length of stay, starting at 6,50 per 4 hours. Buying can be done at each parking lot. No vending or whatsoever.

It's hard to find parking, but the endless misty beach is worth it. We never miss a stop here. Pay parking is in effect but we had no problems taking a 20 minute look without paying.

It seems a good number of countries in the world which include coastlines, have a beach called Long Beach, much as many former British colonies have hotels called The Dorchester or pubs called The Pig & Whistle.
I have been to a good number of them; one in Cape Town; one in the Bahamas; one in California, and on it goes, but within this impressive lists of great “Long” beaches, Long Beach - between Ucluelet and Tofino, on Canada’s West Coast - certainly holds its own.
As its name implies, it is a Long Beach.
It is located in the wonderous Pacific Rim National Park, which is federal rather than provincial or municipal property, because of its ecological importance.
The beach runs in tandem with the highway, which joins these two West Coast towns, known for their natural beauty, the joy they give to surfers, kayaker and hikers alike,
as well as joy to avid foodies, especially given the explosion of great places to eat over the past decade.
Long Beach is easy to access as it is a turn off from the highway, and has significant parking ahead of the beach.
It also has public toilets, which are well maintained.
A short walk takes one on to the beach, where a long beach, Long Beach, stretches before one in the bay, which is called Wik Bay.
There are signs warning that there are dangers to swimming but that does not put surfers off, most of whom are familiar with how to handle its rip tides and dangerous currents.
Best, if one is new to the area, to get advice from the locals, or even a lesson from a pro first.
Best also, too, to keep children out of the water, as there are plenty of other things to enjoy on this sweeping beach.
Build sandcastles, take long walks, or contemplate the universe while sitting on the many logs which dot the beach.

Spent several hours at this beach just walking barefoot and sitting on our beach chairs. It was an overcast day but still enjoyed it a lot! Huge parking lot but needs a day pass or the 4 hour parking fee per adult to explore the area. Make sure to visit it when in Tofino

We were lucky enough to see the beach during a rain and windstorm, during low tides, high tides, including one VERY high tide (as expressed to us by a local). We were advised by another visitor that if we do anything in Tofino that we must walk along Long Beach, so we did. It's beautiful, intense, interesting and a bit exciting.

My new favourite place on earth! So beautiful, one can hardly describe it. Lots of parking, although, we drive a very large motor home and we made sure we gave people plenty of space to get around us….Not so much with the people who parked next to us. We could barely open our door they were so close, which we thought was incredibly rude! The beach is paradise, the water was wonderful and it is a perfect place to learn to surf or look for shells, or just people watch! There is no doubt, we will be back!

I’m new to BC and I am on a journey to find the best Beach in BC…and I’ve come pretty close at Long Beach. Although there are major road closures due to construction it was worth it! Tofino has been a dream for me to visit. Long beach is located in Pacific Rim national park. Super easy to get to, parking off the main road. No super long hiking or anything crazy like that. Pay for park fees at parking station located in parking lot. We got there around 1045 on a Tuesday am and the lot/beach was almost empty. Filled up a couple hrs later. Great washroom/change room/bottle refill facilities. Sand is super fine and soft. Low tide so beach goes on forever (in all directions!). Lots of surfers. Lots of super young kids surfing. What was chilly, as to be expected with Pacific Ocean, but my 3 year old didn’t mind. Temperature said 18degrees but I was warm enough in my bathing suit to get a nice tan(burn). Super close drive to Tofino restaurants and shopping! Although I gave 4 stars, because of water temperature, I’d say more like 4.9 stars!! This will be a yearly holiday for us!
