Fantastic to see bears by kayak! So peaceful, especially when the motorboats buzz off. And the area is so beautiful, with plentiful other wildlife too. We saw four bears (including a mother and cub), an otter family fishing, seals, lots of birds, and supercool fried-egg jellyfish.
Be aware it’s a “bear”-bones experience, though: no toilet, no refreshments, no kayak instruction. But highly recommended!

Wow, what an amazing experience. We couldn’t have asked for more. TJ and Sawyer were excellent hosts!

We managed to see 2/3 adult Bears plus a Cub, Seals, Bald Eagles, Heron, Kingfisher, Jellyfish and even a Racoon on the dock.

Doing the tour in a kayak was so much better than a boat, as you feel much closer to the bears. I’m so glad we went with this option! Really good value for money. Thanks TJ!

If you only do one thing in Tofino make sure it is kayaking with TJ and his beautiful hound Sawyer.
What a way to see bears in their own habitat - silently watching them from the water - this was magical!
Whole trip was so easy.. TJ was ready and waiting for us at the harbour, where we got on his boat (preloaded with kayaks). Once anchored we slipped into our kayaks and headed off to see the bars. We were not disappointed.. Mama bear and her cub as well as other bears mooching around, looking for food.
Once the large, engine noisy bear-spotting boats went by, it was just us, and the bears.. where we could sit, observe and take it all in!
TJ wqs brilliant, loads of info about the bears and the environment.. and Sawyer his lovely dog, just sitting in the front of his kayak, chilling out!
We absolutely loved this experience - and would highly recommend it - it's a special one and one not to forget. Still smiling now!

Great experience with TJ this morning. Pick up from the dock was efficient. Was able to find parking ok at 7 am on Sunday morning. TJ sped us to his kayaking location in his boat with 4 kayaks on top. On the way we saw a black bear, bald eagle and harbour seal. Once decanted into kayaks we saw 4 more bears including a mother with a cub. All in all a wonderful experience.

This was a fantastic trip. TJ and his lovely dog Sawyer took us to see 5 bears including a mother and cub. Kayaking means it’s really peaceful and you can get close without disturbing the bears. Highly recommend you do this trip….well worth the money.

The whole experience was absolutely awesome: it started with me going out pretty early when the streets were empty. Then it was time to meet TJ, a great and experienced guide and his dog – Sawyer to begin the boat/kayak trip. TJ guided us to see incredible views and shared with us informations about it. But the kayak moment was unforgettable!
I was a little bit worried about the kayak because I´m not an adventure person but TJ helped me and others to go in and out of the kayaks. It was so remarkable that I came back to Lisbon looking for Kayaks here. Last but not least: the BEARS! I saw 12 Bears and because we were in the kayaks, the experience was more special! I definitely recommend this tour! It was the best part of my trip in Vancouver Island.
Thanks TJ and Sawyer.

Great guy and guide. Knows the area and wildlife. Experienced Kayaker. Warm (!) boat due a new heating inside. By kayaking close to the shore you get the real „black bear experience“ vs. taking one of the big commercial boats.
Just do it!

This was the highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island! We were fortunate to stumble upon TJ and his tours as we wanted to do some kayaking around Tofino and the prospect of seeing black bears while being closely connected to the stunning landscape. We were fortunate to witness 12 bears (2 of which were cubs) in a very intimate and relaxed manner. If anyone is looking for a unique experience while visiting the western part of the island, I can highly recommend Black Bear Kayak. Plus, you likely get to see Sawyer (TJ's dog) enter a Kayak from a boat ;)

The bears...great spots for seeing them pretty close without disturbing them. Being in the kayak makes you feel like you're part of the landscape.

Fantastic experience! We had a great morning on the water with TJ. We loved the combination of a boat ride and kayaking - kept everyone in the family happy. Saw other bear watchers in power boats and were so glad that we were in kayaks. We saw lots of bears and enjoyed all that TJ had to share about the flora and fauna of the area. Highly recommend!
