Henry's carving shed is a West Coast authentic workshop, with a small community of hard working wood carvers. We are always at work, greeting people from everywhere and demonstrating the ancient art form of carving with hand tools. Artwork can be bought or commissioned on site and we can organize shipping. We are situated right on the exceptional Chesterman's Beach in Tofino, on the North end, next to the famous Wickaninnish Inn

It was very neat to learn about Henry Nolla, the man who used to surf naked. He was so talented that he did all the stunning wood work at the Wickannish Inn.

Many surfaces of the interior of the Wickaninnish Inn are carved with a repeating calming pattern - so much so one wonders "Who did all this?" Wander down to the Carving Shed to see and chat. There are some very unique and beautiful boxes to...More

The shack is just that but we met Christen a talented Norwegian carver who now calls Tofino home and had a nice chat with him. There is local history here which is interesting and it is located on one of the areas loveliest beaches Chesterman.

Interesting to see a bit of local history as Henry was instrumental in creating much of the woodwork for the Wickaninnish Inn. He was an artist and wood carver and this shed honours his legacy by featuring the work of "Feather George" and invited younger...More
