About
Rainforest Trail has two routes, A & B, both of which fully engulf you in the temperate rainforest full of gigantic western red cedars and western hemlocks. Sparking a sensation of zen, you will be overcome with the nostalgia of your childhood memories, ready to make more. Scan the upper canopy for birds, listen to the trickle of water and smell the life of this highly productive forest. Trail A is located on the opposite side of the highway from the parking lot. Trail B starts from the parking lot.

This is the first tim who I have been and The forest is so big and the wildlife is so dense. There used to be fewer bears, but now the population has increased considerably. The scenery is always splendid and so is the welcome.

We hiked the long loop, through the rainforest, over logs, under logs, through some boggy areas on the root covered trail. It was a challenging trail but worth the effort. The old age trees were amazing as well as the undergrowth flora and fauna. For an easier hike, the boardwalk is well worth the trip to the Island. Our water taxi driver was very friendly and willing to suggest other places of interest in Tofino.

Fantastic 90minutes spent on the rainforest trail taking it slow. One of the best boardwalks I have done. Recommend doing it early in the morning on a sunny day, so it’s nice and quiet and you get the best colours of the sun cutting through the canopy. Would highly recommend. Would not be so good for those who struggle with stairs though.

WALKS ARE NICE. GOT A $121 PARKING FINE WITH RV. NO SIGNS ON PARKING LOT WHICH THERE ARE IN EVERY OTHER LOCATION WHERE RULE APPLIES. QUESTIONABLE, CLEARLY STUCK ON AS AFTERTHOUGHT NON STANDARD SIGN 1KM UP ROAD. NOT CLEAR AT ALL. ANOTHER RV THERE WHEN WE ARRIVED SO WE'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES. CAN ONLY APPEAL FINE IN PERSON AT COURT AT LATER DATE IN BC SO NOT PRACTICAL FOR FOREIGN VISITORS. IF IN RV I WOULDN'T BOTHER AS APPARENTLY PARKING IS OVER A KM AWAY ALONG ROAD AND SIMILAR FOREST WALKS IN OTHER PLACES EG. UCLUELET.

Word of warning: Loop A has been closed since Jan 2023 due to 'infrastructure failure' - it is mid-May when I'm writing this. The posted signs give no ETA for when repairs will be completed and Loop A reopened.

This was a real disappointment for me today, as I've previously walked both loops, and while Loop B is spectacular, IMHO Loop A is more so.

Hopefully Parks Canada will reopen this loop soon!

This was so beautiful. It was like a magic kingdom. We went first to Cathedral grove and I didn't think it could get better but it did. I recommend this highly as a beautiful trip. It had a boardwalk with no railings so it could be challenging if you have little kids who don't listen too well. Terrible for anyone who struggles with a lot of stairs and not wheel chair accessible. It was truly gorgeous.I could have stayed all day

It was wet and icy so we didn’t do the entire loop as it was quite slippery. The forest is serene and definitely recharges the soul.

There are two loops at this trailhead, each ~1.4km in length, all on elevated walkways, with lots of stops for reading educational materials regarding the forest around the trail. There’s a good amount of stairs with decent elevation change throughout both walks. Very peaceful, with some impressive old growth trees!

We went with our family (2 grandparents, 1 four-year-old, and 2 active adults). One grandparent doesn't walk far typically but she was able to do this walk. There are places to sit down. bring water as it takes time to do the whole thing. But it was so wonderful to see these massive trees. As a person in the Forestry Conservation Industry, it was lovely to see how we could walk through this forest without walking on it and impacting the ground as much as we normally do when walking through Old Growth forests. I would highly recommend this to everyone.
