We took a hike down the Tonquin Trail and enjoyed the fresh air, trees and the natural setting along with the exercise. The park and beach were all right although this particular beach is rather small compared to the other beaches in the area

This is a small beach which requires a hike in. The trail from the community centre is okay, but it seemed more like a logging road, with deep tire ruts from a maintenance vehicle. The trail out to the road had boardwalks which were nice. Signage could be better from the beach, with a map showing where each trail led... More

Walking along here was very tranquil. We walked along the beach and managed to get close to an Eagle's nest. Walking in the path was peaceful and an easy walk. I loved the businesses carved into the boardwalk for their support.

A short stroll from town takes you to Tonquin Park and beach. Our waitress recommended it and we were glad she did. She also gave us the tip to walk the wrong way round. Signage says go left from the street but if you go right you come to the beach by an easier and quicker route. Up to you... More

We were there on a beautiful sunny warm September day. People were sunbathing, and playing croquet on the beach. Lots of people walking the trail. Easy trail from the parking lot to the beach, about 1km. Trail is very well-maintained.

Love this place, go there each trip. Long staircase down to it through rainforest. Only blocks from downtown Tofino shops near hospital.

From community centre it was about 50 minutes round trip up and down trail then flights of stairs to beach. Neat smaller beach connected to another beach. Beautiful view. Interesting rock "caves" (indents in rock face you can walk into abit). Apparently a much closer hike in from end of Tonquin Park Rd. but the trail from Community Centre is... More

We did this walk in showery weather - we were able to enjoy the walking trails without seeing anybody else. The beach was deserted, which was nice in the way we could enjoy the Pacific coast in isolation. It felt great and bizarre at the same time. Maybe we will come back for some sun!

We walked the Tonquin Trail from the industrial park south of Tofino which leads to Tonquin Park and the beach and then into Tofino at the top end. Good gravel paths and boardwalks, interpretive boards along the way explaining the rain forest and flora and fauna. very quiet and peaceful. Toilets at the community centre car park.

We've been to tonquin many times in the past and there have always been just a few people. 36 this time not including us. It's not a large beach so with all the people milling around we decided to leave. Great walk through the woods though.
