Here it is, August 2021, the first wave of tourists (from America) have jumped the hurdles, done the tests, etc. to gain entry to Canada. We really did not expect as many business entities to have fully recovered as there actually are; this is a (recovery) work in progress.

From our perspective, the good bones of this center are here: that being the cascading waterfall fountain in the small courtyard (facing Coal Harbor) and the Food Court choices (all hungry for business).

The shop spaces look to be in the midst of giving things another go (lots of activity setting up new businesses on the ground floor). There's no sugar-coating the effect Covid has had on local economies (world-wide).

Head down Robson for high-end shopping (Nordstrom's). It won't be found here.

We attended the Irish Dance championships, ate gelato, watched fireworks, and so much more. Very comfortable and accomodating.

Located right downtown, this is a collection of 4 office buildings of various eras with underground shopping. You can enter at several different places, just follow the crowds of people and you can’t go wrong. Once underground you will find boutique clothing stores, franchises like Tim’s, a shoemaker (rare in this day and age), and souvenir shops. This is a good place to while away the hours on a rainy day.

Travellers need to know that this is predominantly a food fair. There may be a couple shops but there's no reason to go here unless you need a quick bite.

I’ve patronized the Waterfront Centre very sporadically over the years, and usually just to have a quick bite to eat. It’s never struck me as a “touristy” type of building. Imagine my surprise, then, when I stumbled across a listing for it on TripAdvisor. Many of the reviews – the majority of which are 4 and 5 stars – appeared to paint a rather enticing picture: “This is the place to be” and “Heaps of boutiques and shops.” “Well,” thought ol’ PookyCake, “maybe I’ve missed something in the rush of my previous visits?” Thus, I made it a special point to re-visit Waterfront Centre and see what all the fuss was about. Would I discover a jewel hidden in plain sight?

No, I was pretty disappointed. Really, the most recent TripAdvisor report captures the essence of Waterfront Centre quite well: “this is predominantly a food fair [. . .] there’s no reason to go here unless you need a quick bite.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! The food court, which is quite decent, makes up the majority of the so-called shopping experience. Besides food, the “shops” include an H&R Block, shoe repair, and banking services. There’s definitely not “Heaps” of shops to be had.

Unlike the Sinclair Centre or Harbour Centre (see my respective reviews on this site), I can’t say Waterfront Centre has beautiful classic architecture or even much of a history because it was built in 1990. It’s a modern structure and, in my view, is kind of ho hum. Well, except for the fountain outside.

Would I characterize Waterfront Centre as a “must do” if visiting the city? Not at all. If you want to shop, stroll over to the nearby Pacific Centre. They may be over-priced, but at least they have more to offer than shoe repair and tax services.

Clean, busy, attractive, and there's great outdoor fountain to top it all off. Although our home-based center was the Harbor Centre (near the Delta Marriott where we were staying), our walk down to Stanley Park took us in this direction and the rest is history.

There really are some beautiful design elements here, particularly the wall design on the escalator down to the food court. Everything is so light, bright, and clean; the fast food court is colorful and every vendor's counter is actually inviting.

Outside (backside near the water) is a terraced sitting wall with a fountain that spills down the side. This was a very pleasurable place to spend some time.

Busy area, but lots of room. Enjoyed two evenings prior to our Alaskan cruise and really enjoyed the area. Lots of activity in the harbor.

This centre is nicely located, and very close to the Waterfront Skytrain Centre. Clean and bright, and there is a nice selection of fast food places in the food court. A nice place to visit if you are downtown.

So convenient .. it is located right across the road from the Cruise Terminal and Canada Place and there is also a railway station there (where you can catch the Skytrain). Heaps of boutiques and shops.
