We used to live just down the street from there. This park has everything - a forest-like area, stands of a variety of beautiful trees, a pond, a playground, a washroom, a basball diamond, an area to play field hockey, soccer or cricket. And it's big for a park right in the middle of the city, with lots of room to walk. The neighbourhood is really nice, too, and Fraser Street nearby is one of the best neighbourhood shopping areas in the city.

- Memorial Park was and still is a place that many of my still close friends, my siblings and I grew up enjoying and hanging around on a continuous basis - part of our growing up in Vancouver - from our Sir Alexander MacKenzie Elementary School 1950's to 1960's May Days celebrated in side the oval of the running track complete with the Grade 7 girls doing the May Pole Dancing - wading in the ponds as youngsters - watching the semi-pro softball games in the Summer times in the 1960's - hanging around the old swing sets and exercise bars that are now gone - High School soccer, football and rugby practices - having to run around that way to long quarter mile running track during PE when we attended John Oliver Senior Secondary School - some of these still close friends also played Little League baseball there too - the Park had gone through a lot of changes in the last 20 or so years - picnic tables and BBQs added by the ponds - more playing fields developed - rubberizing of the old quarter mile track surface and much more - still a great pace to stop by and enjoy a picnic or enjoy some takeout food with old friends when the weather is good - Memorial Park will always be on my "great place" to visit list - give it a try - you won't be disappointed if you visit and car parking is still free!
- ps - and please - don't tell the City of Vancouver that car parking is still free!!

This is a truly beautiful peaceful park with lots of amenities. There are 2 ball diamonds, a lacrosse court, a running track, a multi game sports field, beautiful big cedar trees, a pond, picnic tables, a war memorial, washrooms, etc. I could easily visit here every day and I did when I lived there. I walked my dog there every single morning and frequently afternoons and evenings as well.
