I was really looking forward to my trip on the Rockymountaineer, but from day one was disappointed in the reality of traveling on their train. I am an insulin-dependent diabetic and staff was made aware of my need to have breakfast and lunch when I need them, not when they chose to serve my meals. Snacks were a joke, most... More

Trip of a life time? NO! Overpriced, very ordinary service, mediocre meals and when accidents occur, uncaring. Only thing going for the Rocky Mountaineer (RM) is the train carriage windows which allow for good viewing however there is nowhere to store even a hand bag except at your feet. Accidents happen but it is the way the customer is treated... More

We travelled from Banff to Vancouver, a journey of two days duration. We opted to travel in Gold Class, which gives more elevated views from a double-decker carriage and meals in a restaurant located beneath rather than at one's seat, and we certainly enjoyed the experience although others in our travel group who opted for Silver Class were also very... We travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Jasper via Kamloops. The arrival at the departure station was full of excitement with music playing, souvenirs being sold and a general buzz. On the train, we were on Gold class and the food was excellent, the drinks service was sporadic (I ended up buying bottled water to take with me... More

We booked a "Once in a Lifetime" trip to the Canadian Rockies and were recommended by many of our friends to take a trip on the World Leading Tourist attraction, "The Rocky Mountaineer". Apart from the very wet weather, which is nobody's fault, it all started off great. The excitement at the station was superb, the pianist was playing, the... More

We too were aboard the derailed train on the 23rd September and experienced the shambles of an attempt by RM to put in place any sort of back up plan. Mis-information, confusion and downright lies were all we saw during that day which was topped off with a rather uncomfortable night time bus journey. Mis-information, lies and delays continued the... More

We chose the pre-trip Alaskan cruise on the Holland American Nieuw Amsterdam, 3 nights in Vancouver, the 2 day train trip to Jasper then motor coach to Lake Louise, Banff ending in Calgary. The short of it, the cruise was great, enjoyed the ship. Vancouver, staying at the Four Seasons was memorable. The train through the Rockies was fantastic despite... More

Gold Class is the only way to go from Vancouver to Lake Louise. The further you travel the more spectacular the views. please ensure you are hungry as the food x 5 per day is filling. One thing that is never advertised is the fact you travel through a dry continent between Vancouver and Kamloops. The overnight stay in Kamloops... More

The Rockymountaineer train Robbery. In September, 2016, a friend and I took the Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf Service from Banff to Vancouver. As the brochure read: “luxurious train travel through the Canadian Rockies, a trip of a lifetime". We were more than disappointed. We paid $1,000 a day per person or $4,000 for the two-day train ride. We spent a... More

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighbourhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
