- StaceykimVernon, Canada24 contributionsBruno!!!We visited the aquarium on Saturday and had an amazing experience! We are very lucky to go all the time. I have an 11 year old son with autism. Well, so you know, change is challenging! The penguins were inside due to the cold weather, so my son got upset he couldn’t see them. Ugh! I asked to speak to a manager and Bruno came down quickly to assist! He spoke to the trainer Jes and they arranged for my son to have a small personal visit with the beautiful penguins! They were so amazing to my son and my family. Instead of driving home in tears we went home with smiles! Thank you so much to Bruno, you are my hero!Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten December 18, 2022
- Barb CChilliwack, Canada10 contributionsEnjoyable on a Rainy DayMy husband and I decided to go to the aquarium just for something different to do during our visit to Vancouver. We hadn't been there in about 30 years, so things had definitely changed. We spent 2 hours wandering around, taking in all the exhibits as well as the short 15 minute 4D octopus movie. Fun experience for all ages. Would definitely recommend it.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten January 7, 2023
- Claire and LukeNashville, Tennessee15 contributionsWorth it for tourists!Having grown up in Atlanta with the Georgia Aquarium (largest in the US and top 3 I think in the world), I always have high expectations going to aquariums. We loved our experience at the Vancouver Aquarium and thought the location right in Stanley Park paired perfectly. There were a lot of people, but it never felt too crowded and there was a mix of outdoor and indoor events, some were interactive, others were just shows like the IMAX. Fair warning - the 3d show is very immersive :) We grabbed lunch at the café there: it was mostly basic food (chicken fingers, hot dogs, etc), but convenience was worth it We took public transportation which stops just at the entrance to Stanley Park and then it’s a short 5-10 minute walk to the aquarium from there.Visited July 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten February 4, 2023
- EmmaPortsmouth, United Kingdom21 contributionsBrilliant Aquarium, would love to returnI was really looking forward to visiting this aquarium on my trip to Vancouver and it didn't disappoint. We found parking quite easy and not too far from the entrance and I thought the entrance price was value for money. All the animals and marine life looked well cared for and healthy and there was plenty of information around with regards to what we were seeing. In particular my favourites were the sea otters and the sea lions. I could have spent hours there but my 3yr old wanted to go round at 100mph so didn't stay as long as I wanted to but intend to come back when we next visit Vancouver again. To me it's second only to Monterey Aquarium in California. Highly recommended if aquariums are your thing.Visited May 2022Travelled with familyWritten April 8, 2023
- Andrew HWest Seneca, New York3 contributionsOtter This World!Lot's of amazing aquatic wildlife and exhibits that truly captivates the Pacific Northwest in all of it's glory. As someone whose from the Northeast, it was definitely and eye opening experience and a perfect time for people of all ages. The exhibits were well maintained, the animals looked healthy and the staff was very friendly. Plenty of shows and attractions as well. One unique exhibit was their otter sanctuary for rescued otters which will bring a smile to anyone's face. Overall, great way to kill a few hours in the city!Visited May 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten April 13, 2023
- Eddie TCalgary, Canada109 contributionsNice place to visit, though pricey and crowdedThe aquarium is huge and well maintained. It requires a few hours to go through all the exhibits, which offer a nice selection of species to look at. There are restaurant/cafe facilities on site, which are very expensive though this is somewhat expected given that this is a touristy spot within one of Vancouver's most touristy locations (Stanley park). Aside from the exorbitant admission cost, another consideration before visiting is that it gets extremely crowded. The crowding element results in long lineups to enter, and also in a parking nightmare which may include a very long walk from parking to the entrance of the building. Worth a visit if you can arrive early enough to beat the crowds.Visited April 2023Written April 17, 2023
- Trip1313Midland, Canada48 contributionsRaining?????? Why not visit the aquarium!Went to the Aquarium after walking through Stanley park when it started pouring rain. It was great! The jelly fish and the way they are illuminated in their aquariums are incredible. The otters and seals are extremely entertaining - great to be able to watch them above the water and then as they swim underwater.Visited April 2023Written April 22, 2023
- Nikki W85 contributionsVery cool aquariumThere are lots of cool animals here that you don't normally see at aquariums, like several types of jellyfish and coral reefs. That said, the price is pretty steep for how large it is; I took my time and I saw everything in under 2 hours. I'd say check it out if you're really into marine life or have kids to entertain.Visited June 2023Written June 13, 2023
- clf51Waterloo, Canada280 contributionsWorth the visitThe aquarium is in Stanley Park which is a huge park in Vancouver. We walked to the aquarium from our Sutton Place Hotel. It's a large aquarium, easy to find, with a small snack place inside. There were lots of school age children there so it can get quite noisy. We loved it.Visited June 2023Written June 14, 2023
- MarkAsheville, North Carolina2 contributionsDisplays were gorgeous!Their displays were dazzling!! Everything was neat and clean and all the staff was very pleasant! I thought it was one of the best aquariums I've ever seen. It didn't have a lot of huge displays. But it did have a large quantity of displays and they were gorgeous!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 15, 2023

The real highlights of this aquarium were the feeding and training experiences. The knowledgeable and passionate staff were very informative and entertaining in their presentations, and interacted expertly with their audiences. My top tip would be: for visitors to find out the times for the otter feeding, sea lion training, jellyfish and seal feeding on arrival at the aquarium, so as not to miss out on these experiences. The Wet Lab was most interesting and hands on. The layout of the aquarium was easy to follow and the exhibits had clear signage. We loved the Graham Amazon Gallery. The only food outlet open on the day we visited was the Courtyard Cafe where we had a coffee. It was a wonderful day learning about Canada and BC's aquatic life.

It was OK, I was expecting more it was sort of basic. I live in Massachusetts and had been told that this was better than the Boston aquarium, I did not find that to be true. The parking was terrible and theplace was crowded. They did have some nice displays and thier 4 d show was good

The Aquarium was a surprising find in Stanley Park. Thought it worth a look to while away a couple of hours but it was so good we spent the day there. The sea otters were so good to watch their constant activity. The tanks were well lit and the glass kept clean so photo opportunities abounded.

Recently spent a few days in Vancouver and while riding the hop on hop off bus, we decided to revisit the aquarium which we had seen maybe 7 or 8 years earlier.
Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing and had a 'really tired' look about it.
We made the most of the visit and our friends also from Australia could not but compare it with aquariums they had seen at home. I do believe there may be an issue with funding the facility so I hope it can all be back on track soon!

So great! I did this on the last day of vacation after my friends had left, and it was perfect to spend time alone looking at all the animals. Really great exhibits and such a good experience.

I've gone to so many aquariums before, but this one is ok, I guess. The Otters and the Seals, and the Big Jellyfish, what made this more entertaining. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed being here, and walking around in the forest area was the best part.

Smaller size aquarium that now does good work keeping injured animals alive that would not survive in the wild, such as the blind sea lion on display. Expensive entry for limited exhibits, but the money seems to go to a good cause. The bad old days of captive whales here are over.

Wind here our first full day in Vancouver. Very nice aquarium, with nice displays easy to get around. Not quite like Atlanta or Monterey Bay aquarium, but still a very nice experience. Would highly recommend to anybody visiting Vancouver.

How long takes the visiting trail? If the acquarium closes at 5 pm and I arrive at 2.30pm is it enough foe exploring the entire place?

I think that’s plenty. We stopped on our bike ride around Stanley Park and saw all exhibits, watched the seal show and watched the walrus talk AND had lunch all in less than 2 hrs 👍🏼

Hi
there are parking place but you need to have own lock or rent from bike shops. It really depends on your pace for watching. Normally me and 7 years old my son takes 2-3hours enough.
Hoping that you have wonderful trip.
