It's crowded on a sunny weekend. We can't find a place to park. The place is overflowing with people - families, couples and friends. Not the longest or best beach in the world though.

We ended up in English Bay, having taken a water taxi from Granville Island. Did not plan to visit English Bay, but someone told us to walk from the water taxi pier to Denman Street. That's what we did, and came across the area around Denman, which was fun and very unique, and then of course right near by English... More

Very pretty beachy area on the waterfront. This is one of the more affluent areas of the city. Nice bike and waking paths.

This is best part of Town and must visit for view and enjoy the sunset on the beach while you are still in downtown! It is amazing specially grabbing a drink in local restaurants facing direct to ocean or get a coffee sit down and relax on plenty of wooden benches available and watch the sunset.

Is very close to our hotel in the West End. Lovely place to walk and relax. You can get the boat from here to get to Granville Island. You see lots of dogs being walked here.

I'm used to walk along Stanley Park and always ending at English Bay cause the view is dramatic! When sunny, it's totally worth spending time there. Cons: the oli tankers on the bay ruin the landscape

In many respects, English Bay is the center of town. From here you have easy access to several beaches, Stanley Park, the Seawall Walk, and major downtown streets. Restaurants abound and the street vendors will satisfy that craving. If you are new to town, I recommend obtaining a guide to the attractions and activities around English Bay - it will... More

Seen from the hop on, hop off bus which is a great way to visit the most places in limited time. Beautiful views out of the harbour and into the Pacific

Excellent area in the westend of Vancouver that used to have great restaurants in the are but they have really gone down hill! Become very expensive and small servings!! Not a decent pub in the area!!

We stopped at the beach to relax a few times during our stay in Vancouver, and all of the times it had beautiful views, fairly busy with people, and was clean.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
