Fun observation deck
Nov. 2019
Observation decks are always fun places to visit to get a different perspective on a city you're visiting. We came here a few years ago when we were at a conference and we really enjoyed our time here. The price of admission was a bit steep, but such is life and you roll with things while on vacation. The view is pretty amazing though and it was really nice to see Vancouver lit up at night. It's a nice observation deck to visit if you're in town.

360 Degree Views of the City of Glass
Sep. 2019
You know what’s kind of crazy? Up until now, I’ve never visited the Vancouver Lookout. Despite being in the city countless times, despite visiting the Harbour Centre and Top of Vancouver Restaurant countless times, I never took the opportunity to come here. I guess part of my rationale, especially when attending the revolving restaurant, was “well, I can pretty much see everything here – why go to the very zenith of the tower?” Hey, you have to admit that line of thinking kind of makes sense!

So, what finally led to my visit? Basically, I had an afternoon to kill before meeting my grandparents at YVR. After spending a fair amount of time exploring historic Gastown (see my earlier review on this site), I decided to continue playing “tourist” and attend the Vancouver Lookout. The tower’s proximity to Gastown made this an easy choice. Thus, I ambled over to the Harbour Centre, paid my admission and got whisked up some 450 feet in a glass elevator (in a mere 40 seconds) to the Lookout. Be aware that your ears may block up on the ride!

In any event, the views you get up here are absolutely stunning. Walk the full 360 degrees and see unparalleled birds-eye views of the North Shore mountains, bustling downtown Vancouver, historic Gastown, and Coal Harbour. On clear days such as I had, you can see why Douglas Coupland has called Vancouver the “City of Glass.” The many towers glint and sparkle in the sun.

For those who want a little more context to their viewing adventure, there are information panels posted throughout the Lookout that explain and show how the area of Vancouver you’re looking at has changed over time. Helpful interpretive guides are also available. Indeed, this is one way to learn about the city’s ever-changing landscape.

Overall, I enjoyed my touristy experience. While this is probably something I wouldn’t return to again and again, it’s definitely something you should do at least once. Because admission tickets are good all day, you might want to return at sunset for another perspective; however, I’d recommend attending the Top of Vancouver Restaurant for a lovely dinner AND stunning views of the city.

Full 360 degrees beautiful and spectacular view of Vancouver
Oct. 2019
As are city pass holders, we visited Vancouver Lookout where near our hotel. We enjoyed full 360 degrees beautiful and spectacular view of Vancouver and saw cruise ship docked there. The only drawback was long queue on that day. However, definitely worth a visit.

High in the Sky Views
Mar. 2020 • Friends
No lines with a quick dizzying ride in an elevator with a glass door. Loved the different vantage points as you move around the observation deck. You can see forever up there. We ended up with a beautiful day, sunny with some clouds. There was a little gift shop at the top and bathroom for your convenience. Worth the trip up if you take your time and enjoy the view.

Buy your ticket at the Tourist Information office to get a good discount
Feb. 2020
The all-day ticket is perfect for going up to get a view during the day, and then returning after sundown for the night view. During February the sunset was not spectacular, being partially hidden by buildings, but also during February there are absolutely no crowds. Our ticket was discounted about $6.00 by buying it at the Tourist Info office.

Great stop
Feb. 2020 • Couples
When we are showing guests around Vancouver, this is a great stop for a view of Burrard inlet. Lots to see here. Nice part of a longer walk along Coal Harbour. You can begin here, then walk along Canada Place and down toward Stanley Park.

Worth a visit
Feb. 2020 • Friends
The week before we had been up the Calgary Tower and I'd enjoyed the distant views of the Rockies .
Here it was a 360 view of them and not distant .
It wasn't immediately obvious to us that this was the lookout as we walked passed it a couple of times wondering what that disk was doing plonked onto a tower block but , eventually, we worked it out and after discovering they allow military discount we had a look.
The views are stunning and are worth the trip.
