Unfortunately, renting a motorcycle from them hasn't been what it should be. In short, they don't take their business serious enough.
Rented a Africa Twin for 5 days. The bike looked fine at pickup, even though it showed 50TKM (I should have turned away right there). Everything checked out and was functional.
On the second day driving noticed vertical bouncing on the front tire after driving an hour. Adjusted the rear suspension to compensate with no effect. Send a message to Cycle BC which they replied with 'try to adjust the rear suspension' 😐. At that point it was clear that either the chain was warn out, the front tire's bearing was seizing or the suspension was warn out. The breaks were fine, no overheating. Having driven motorcycles for 25 years you can tell if the suspension is that bad that the front tire wants to bounce 😏.
Well, the bounce on the front tire got worse to a point that a novice rider would have probably just parked the bike on the side of the road. But hey, I didn't want them to have to pick up the bike somewhere on the island so I kept going.
But here is were things got unacceptable. When I returned the bike (one day earlier) I walked into their shop and they barely wanted to talk to me. Bare in mind, we only communicate once about the bike's issue and they didn't even reply when I told them that adjusting the rear suspension didn't change anything. I had to convince them to take a test drive and they came back saying that there is nothing wrong with the bike. I told them that this is a serious issue and it only really shows after the bike gets warm (sounds like a bearing or chain, right?). I also told them this bike should not be driven and most certainly not go out on a rental. They offered me a lukearm 'we can refund you one day rental'. Keep in mind I returned the bike one day early 😠. I told them that this is not about the money, but this bike should not be on the road like this. As a last resort they said: 'we heard from a friend who rides a Africa Twin that he had a similar problem and never could fix it'. That statement together with the fact that they even have a bike with more then 50TKM in their rental fleet raises so many questions.
Anyways, they promised they will have the bike thoroughly tested (with luggage for weight) and get back to me. Since they have not reached out to me I have to assume they gave the bike a good wash and put back into the rental fleet.

First of foremost we take the safety of our riders and the equipment as the number one priority of our business. We run computerized maintenance software that tracks the maintenance intervals set forth by the manufactures and preemptively service the bikes based off the distance of the intended trip to ensure no issues will arrive while the bikes are out. It is in our best interest to keep the bikes in the best condition as possible from a safety perspective and from a business perspective. If we consistently had issues with equipment, it would be a lose-lose for both parties. Felix did reach out to us with complaints that he felt the chain was loose and worn out on the bike. The chain and sprockets had been replaced less than 7,000 km ago. They typical lifespan of a drivetrain on a bike is 20,000-25,000km. When he returned the first thing we did was come out with a helmet and test drove the bike for over 20 min. The mechanic was not able to replicate the issue that Felix experienced. Given the seriousness of the complain we booked the bike in to our local Honda Dealership to have a mechanic do an independent inspection on the bike. The bike came back from with dealer with a clean inspection, the chain and sprockets were in good condition, wheel bearings rolling smoothly and suspension operating correctly. The mechanic signed off on the bike being safe for the road. In the time that we had the bike in with dealer Felix posted his review. As for the mileage on the bike, during COVID we have reduced some of the turn over of the equipment due to the suffering tourism industry. We are doing our best to navigate these challenges so we can serve riders in the coming years. However we will stand by that 50,000 km is not excessive on a modern motorcycle that is less than three years old and well maintained. We exist as a company to share our passion of motorcycle’s and feel that the best way to experience BC is by bike. Our customers come from around the world and put a huge amount of trust in us to provide them with safe equipment and the best experience possible. While we strive to have every customer leave happy clearly in this case we were not able to come to a common ground to achieve that. Sorry Felix, best to you in the future.

Great service from Mike and the guys at Cycle BC. Bike was prepped perfectly, and performed as only a BMW can, for the 2500kms trip around BC and Alberta. Worth checking their busy times as it can be crowded first thing but it gives you time to transfer luggage etc Would definitely hire from these guys again.

A huge selection of bikes and friendly staff. We rented a bike for a quick get away. Unfortunately the person that had our bike did not return it on time. We were in a time crunch because a road being closed for a race. The staff juggled some things around and got us on our way, but not on the bike we originally wanted. We made past the road being closed by 5 minutes. Our original plan was to leave within 10 minutes of them opening the shop. We didn't leave for about 45 minutes to an hour. While they got the other bike ready.

We hired two motorcycles from Cycle BC for an 11 day tour. On arrival the bike were sitting ready for us to load up and the two chaps Mike and Dave were very helpful in getting us sorted and ready to go. Both bikes were well maintained and never caused any issues over the 2428km covered during our trip. Would highly recommend and will use for future trips.

We rented 2 bicycles for the afternoon on 25th April, 2019. The bikes were in excellent condition and we were able to chose ones that suited us. Our bikes came with baskets on the front and locks if we needed to use them.

These bikes were $8 per hour each, and if you use them for more than 3 hours, it’s $28 each bike for returning the them on the same day. This was much more flexible than any other bike rental company. We rode around Stanley park and had a terrific outing.

Cool Aussie bloke doing the front desk :)

We rented a double scooter for 24 hours. Its not cheap (twice as expensive as a car rental) but the fun and convenience factors definitely make up for it. Several options available, all are marked clearly on their website. Insurance purchase is mandated. They close at 6pm to late return is, unfortunately, not an option.

Our scooter was a lot of fun. Rode around ALL day and at the end, only had to fill it back up with < $2 worth of gas... amazing. Gets you everywhere you want to go, parking is no hassle. The seat opens up for you to store one helmet or a small bag pack.

Rental process was easy and quick. Only need a driver's license. My only issue is that the helmets were not very clean. One had the last renters hair.. several of them, and the other had residual dandruff in there. Please do a better job at cleaning (vacuuming may work better).

They give out free helmets, gloves and sun glasses. Do get the gloves. I didn't and my hands suffered a bit in April weather. Can be worse in the colder months.

If you know how to ride a bike and want to get around Vancouver and make the most of it... get a scooter. But drive safely.

Staff were friendly and very helpful from before we booked through to after we returned the motorcycle. They have a good range of bikes to choose from and great advice on where to ride. What more do you need?
