We were there twice during the public hours. The first time we were there on a Friday late afternoon and we were told by a gentleman at the entrance that the building was closed for an event. The second time we were there on a Friday early afternoon and we were told by another gentleman at the escalator on the ground floor that the building was closed for an event. Is the building closed for the public during the public hours when there is an event? Would the building be opened for events after 5pm?
We were near the Centre and there were many people who entered the building. We thought the building was opened to the public due to the lack of staff by the entrance. We went in and reached the second floor. A woman by the escalator on the second floor, who was clearly annoyed and sounded irritated, told us that only members of the seminar can proceed and she asked us if we registered and if we have a name tag. However, we saw many others without a name tag who proceeded to the third floor. If there was someone at the entrance who could have informed us of the building closure then we would not have walked in and felt embarrassed.
I visited the Centre's website later and saw that there was no event on that day listed under the "Events" section. Why were we told that the building was closed for an event? And why was the building populated when there was no event listed?
I called the Centre the next day and the receptionist said he would transfer my call to the manager. The manager kept interrupting me. He cut me off the phone when I tried to speak. So we tried to find someone who we could talk to. When I looked at the list of contact info. under "Our Team" on the website, the name of the manager who I had talked to on the phone was not on the list. So who did the receptionist transfer my call to?
I tried to call another manager two days later and my call went to his voicemail which was a Chinese woman speaking Mandarin. I was surprised. Does that mean the contact info. of "Our Team" on the website is incorrect?
Then I emailed to the GM and the CEO but I could not reach them. The fact that I could not reach any of the staff by phone or by email indicates that there is something wrong with the staff.

We spent some time wandering around this area, our highlight being the Flyway virtual tour over Canada which was just amazing and not to be missed. Some good eateries and lots to look at. Enjoyed the historic board walk story boards about pioneering Canadians and the important part they played in the early days

Loved this place, right on the harbor, mountains across the way, you can watch the seaplanes take off. The food was by far the best I have had at a convention, always a healthy option available. Meeting rooms were great and the location is super fun. We only had one side of the convention center, but it was perfect for our about 2000 people.

This building is THE most beautiful convention space I've ever been in. The architecture on the harbor, the natural stone and wood accents everywhere, and the walls of glass are exquisite!

A lovely setting, right by the water. We walked along the water and watched the seaplanes take off, and checked out all the restaurants.

I was at the convention centre for the Vancouver Fan Expo on Saturday and the Bridal and Honeymoon expo on Sunday. Both events were amazing. the Convention centre was a great choice for both. The staff were helpful and friendly.

We recently enjoyed a 3 day convention at this site. It was my first visit to the convention centre since it was built. We had the large room on the bottom floor. It easily held the 6000 plus who attended, with room to spare. To get to the room from the Main Street entrance, you go up a flight of stairs. This level holds several smaller rooms. One or the rooms was being used for a wedding reception. As you walk along the lobby. You come to 3 very steep escalators that take you down to the lower room. As you go down the escelstors, there are many photos showing some history of the city of Vancouver. There are many doors that give you access to the large room. The sound was very good and the temperature kept things comfortable. A wonderful venue. Out side is a walk way that gives you a view of the harbour and the cruise ship terminal just next door. There are many small shops attached, including a bike rental place and the ferry to Victoria harbour. I did not walk around the whole building but I was told it gives you access to the Jack Pool plaza. The location of the torch from when Vancouver hosted the Olympic. This site was also used in a movie. The roof of the building was a grass roof. A wonderful place to hold a venue.

I thought for the longest time that Hong Kong had the nicest conference/exhibit center in the World. Now it is second. This building is beautiful, the materials are awesome, it is comfortable!
A true delight. And it is eco- friendly.

Is it a problem to bring one large suitcase on the train going to downtown from the airport?

Should be no problem I agree with the others who replied to question.

How much is a cab ride to and from Richmond hotel?
Written August 8, 2017
It depends on your hotel in Richmond. I usually budget about $40.00 taxi fare from downtown Vancouver to the airport. The skytrain is much cheaper and probably faster depending on traffic.

Hi I am intending to attend the fanexpo in mid November what are the linked hotels to the event?
Written April 4, 2017
When weather is good, it is nice to walk outside and it feels safe. If you really want to stay close to the event, you may consider the Pan Pacific Vancouver that is in the same East Building of Vancouver Convention Center as the fanexpo will take place. Or the Fairmont Pacific Rim, where there is underground walkway connected to the West Building of Vancouver Convention Center; between the West and East buildings there is also an underground walkway. Have fun!

Is there a facility to store my luggage while I attend an event?
Written March 13, 2016
Hi Kim
I don't believe there is a place to store luggage at the convention centre. Also if you are not staying at the hotels mentioned above, I doubt they will Arora your luggage.
I would eco mend the rain station which is very close to the centre.
