Multi-media astronomy shows in the Planetarium Star Theatre are enhanced by 20-minute live demonstrations in the GroundStation Canada Theatre that keep you up-to-date on the latest space news. The Cosmic Courtyard ehibit gallery contains a real piece of moon rock you can actually touch, a J-2 Rocket Engine, artifacts and simulations. On Saturday nights you can visit the Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory right next door and, if the skies are clear, you can see stars and maybe even a planet through the .5 metre Cassegrain telescope.

It is a cool place, the theatres shows are considered for children because of the way the topics are dealt with, but they are only simple and practical explanations of science's laws. There are a lot of different interesting planetarium shows and the little exhibition about adventures in space is really nice too.

The space center used to be much more user-friendly. They closed down the gift shop years ago, and now there's not much to do there except watch the ho-hum shows. The staff are not particularly knowledgeable or helpful.

Although I am fairly certain that the space centre and its exhibits deserve a better rating than I am giving, my rating is based on the fact that I was unable to actually be admitted. We attempted to go on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, only to be informed that the centre was closing for the day at 3:00. We... More

I grew up going to the Vancouver Planetarium at the HR MacMillan space centre. Chairs recline and the guid takes you on a tour through space to see galaxies, planets, stars, nebula, black holes, and more. As an adult I took my family here, and all the kids love it. Take your kids or go with a friend or date!

It was an interesting place to visit. Informative film on Blackholes was showing. Lots of space information.

Having walked over the rather long Burrard Bridge I had hoped for more then what was on display. The price included a film/presentation (we opted for Black Holes) which was OK but not exceptional.

When we saw there was a space center on a map of the city we thought it would be a lot bigger than it actually was. The museum is nice but very small and more geared towards kids than adults. It is good to spend an hour or so while exploring downtown. It was cool to see the displays, but I definitely suggested attending at least one of the free interactive sessions and one planetarium film viewing that comes with the entrance fee. Having all these combined makes a pretty decent experience.

Had an hour or so to visit somewhere before heading to Vancouver airport, so decided to head here. An hour was about right to see everything (including the 35 min planetarium show) - surprisingly little here. Filled the time, but wouldn't recommend.

A lot of the exhibit is dated - especially the technology that's meant to be interactive. We pretty much just did the planetarium show, which was really great and informative but definitely not worth the admission rate.
